I've never liked the fact an automatic never knows which gear I want to be in, but with this kind of power to weight, who cares? Sounds like fun.

Will change box to full manual..so will be like driving a clutchless manual will also be tiptronic so 4 in a row..wont have the same engine braking as a manual but im working on a set of special front race brakes that hopefully will let us brake DEEP into corners

i used to call an old girlfriend "spanner" because she would make my nuts tight.

kiwi, is the tranny a 4L60 or a 4L60 e does it have a cable?

if it does, then going tiptronic isn't going to happen, you will have to get a full manual valve body.

when you rebuild it, you will need a beast.

 ya gotta love those spanner girlfriends ...At this stage have only thought about tiptronic..as you say probably wont work.. but this might..There is a kit from TransGo for full manual operation with vacuum controlled main line pressure. This makes the 4L60E manual shift only! :) ..but still a LOOONNGG way off yet still have to rebuild the trans ..but first mount it to motor so i can finish motor and trans mounts

 Kiwi Dave

so it's a 4L60e then no cable.

look at Baumann controls site, they make control modules to run the trans without a pcm.

for shifting, just get a ratchet shifter.

dave,

don't forget, you will need a beast when you rebuild it and probably a five gear planetary set.

no! the beast is a type of sun shell that doesn't shear off at the point where the sun gear is welded on.

and anyone from the land where men are men and sheep are nervouse must be a beast

Im liken this guy ..JOHN.. he sure knows his 4l60e's..and he recognises a beast when he see's one  and yes the sheep are nervous today..As you can probably tell i know stuff all about modern auto trans..Couple of reasons im going with auto ..1/ the chassis is already setup for one ..2/ The holden /buick v6 comes in manual and auto both have different bolt patterns on the crank for the flywheel, mine is auto, ECU is also different,3/ more foot room in the footwell
4/ i like to be different

when rebuilding, pay special attention to clutch pack hight.

fit a mechanical diode if you can get one

kolene steels

kevlar band

beast sun shell

go to WIT TRANSMISSIONS site where all is available, including selective thickness steels

i have done one or two in the past

when assembling the valve body, do not use thick trans lub jelly to hold the check balls in place, it will give you some strange occurances on start up and run.

i took one back out because of this very thing, only to find that it did the same thing when i rebuilt it a second time till i found this out, then all was good, it will desolve eventually though.

also keep the end play at the lower end of tollerance.

am i teaching granny to suck eggs here, i suspect i am!

Ok today i positioned motor and box in car ..sure looked a lot easier to line everything up than what it actually was.. it took age's..now that the sump isnt hanging 2'' below the frame ..if the motor's sitting a bit high ..tuff..nothing like a giant hole in the bonnet and something that looks like a mail box to cover everything wont fix!

The first pic isnt mine but just shows where i have it mounted its in the exact same position
The crap phone pic is mine ..ive gotta recharge my camera batteries :BH:

 up a bit, down a bit , to low, to high, sideways a bit, tilt it up,move it forward, move it back, twist it left, its not level, :BH: finally its in position
