It belongs to the bearded son in the picture. I guess he does not have to finish his if he has mine to drive when he wants as long as they are sheltering in place with us. They had recently sold their house in PA (no storage or garage) and moved to DC (apartment). They are talking about buying a house down there though, so probably (hopefully) his chassis goes to DC sometime this year. Of course everyone's life is up in the air right now, so we will see. I told him I would keep it safe for him.

Grrr...the pinion seal in the diff just started leaking. Of course it requires a special tool to remove the nut (Alfa Spider Diff)...hopefully one of my friends has one. It like $100 for a stinkin' socket.

What's special about the socket? Sometimes you can make the special tools. Having built the car you probably considered this...
Good luck...

Yeah, I will go buy a 30mm 6 point socket and modify. Not going to spend that kind of money on a simple tool. Have to go to Autozone with my calipers. Hopefully they have that size in a 6 point.

Hi Paul,

Years ago when I had a Giulietta Spider that came with a shop manual ( one needed that ) the instructions to adjust the cam chain was 'us use special tool ############. If that was not available use a screwdriver.'

I think you will manage quite well without having to buy a special Alfa Romeo tool.

Cheers!

Larry,
It is a round nut with castellations for drive. I will have to make the tool. the other part of the pain is removing the driveshaft which will require much disassembly.
Hey! Hope you are feeling well.

Just thinking. Perhaps a shock adjusting tool would work? I remember using one of those on my Alfa somewhere. Alas, many nights have passed since then. I never had to work on the rear end. One of the few parts that didn't need attention.

Doing much better thank you!

Best,

Larry

So here is a first for me.
Took the Seven to its annual inspection at the regular place I take my cars and they were full up for the day..."so sorry, have to come back". OK I say, there is another inspection place up the road and they said they could do it. Great! The mechanic goes out to the car to pull it in and he is just staring at it. I go over and ask him whats wrong. "I can't figure out how to get in", so I show him...stand in it and lower yourself down. He tries and just can't do it and we are both worried now that if he does get in, we will have to call 911 to get him out again. "Sorry bud, you will have to go back to where you got inspected last year. They have some young bucks over there."
Sad face...drove back home. Happy face...driving the Seven and not getting pulled over for overdue inspection. It is a cop magnet.

Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear your sad tale (with happy ending). The police don't seem very interested in my Locost. They might glance my way but never even get behind me let alone light me up. I'm feeling neglected but that's OK.

Cheers!
