Life has gotten good for me, even w/o the car building bit. And thank you for asking. BTW, I ran into this "Kemp" guy over in the FB Can-AM group? Dang, I'm talking to a bit of a royal family!

Hey Al, how is your build going? As I recall, I sent you that double-bubble bell?

Don't recall the double bubble bell, I know we discussed timing chain covers and mounting your alternator.
Then again I'm old and entering that stage where I walk around for half a day before I realize I forgot to zip up my pants.
My car has been on the road now for 3-4 years, other than a leaky shock or two it has been fine.

Thanks JD, you helped explain why I don't seem to wet my pants like others of my age. :o

This week I have an excuse on why my work space looks like I just moved it all in a small-ish moving truck. 'Cause I just moved it all 600 miles in a small-ish moving truck.

But it's in. Just need to rebuild the work benches and storage space to reflect a 15x20' space instead of a 15x30' space. I think that the 20' deep space I now have will be more workable than the 15' deep space, so the rest is just storage.

Damn good thing I wasn't building a rock crawler or something heavier and bigger...

That would be the famous "Charlie Kemp" wouldn't it? Yeah, he's something! I've tried to figure out a way to claim him as a cousin, but I can't prove it. GrandPa got around when he had that motorcycle...

o.k. i need some specifics on the fuel system and the engine peripherals, like what you have connected and what is still to be done.

Let's see... 3.4 GM 60 degree V6.

OEM stock fuel pump in tank I made myself. Stock Gen I iron heads w/ stock intake. Stock EFI system with the exception that I paid a guy to turn off stuff (rev limiter, etc, I'll look up that info). Stock steering column and stock speedo cluster. Stock wiring harness 'cept for the bits that I clipped off already and fully unbundled to I could inspect it. T5 tranny. Still have stock exhaust manifolds attached (haven't gotten to headers yet). Stock ignition.

In other words, right now, it's pretty close to what it would've been inside of a 95 Camaro.

EDIT - - reversed water pump, revised alternator belt.

I'm happy -- in fact would be thrilled -- to work with the electrical geniuses here and learn EFI as I go.

first off, did you mean 4.3 or 3.4?

next, it has a serpentine belt but only the water pump runs bacwards.

when you look at the manifold on top of the engine, what do you see, is it black plastic with a throttle body facing forwards?

does the distributor have the plug wires out of sequence so they line up with the plugs on each side of the engine?

is there an ignition coil on the passinger side of the manifold and a module on a heat sink next to it?

i am just trying to define what engine is installed, then i can see what needs to be connected to it.

95 camaro is hopefully obd II but may be obd I, the change was model year 96 by law.

just a word about the engine, its 20 years old, do you think it is what you really need?

3.4, the last engine in the Gen I RWD 60-degree V6 series that went into the Fiero, S10, Camaro, etc.

I reworked the timing cover and such so that the belt drive no longer went to the AC, PS, etc.

Intake Manifold is aluminum. Yes, some black plastic for the MAF facing front. See pics:

No distributor.

No single coil. Modern ignition setup with the 3 coil setup.

I'll post more pics if you need 'em.

The 95 was the infamous OBD1.5. I also have bits for OBD1 and OBD2, but obviously if I can do a "megasqirt" that might be fun too.

No, I need a modern crate motor, like that little Ford Ecoboost 2.0L 4 cylinder. Maybe a LSx crate motor? But this is what I started with 3 years ago. Others have used the same motor, but they've retrofitted with the Edelbrock / Holly carb setup.

not that modern, the later V6's went back to a distributor.

not a lot to this, the ignition is controlled by the module under the coils and a crank trigger, probably 6 wires in the module plug, 2 to the f.i. 2 for the crank trigger and power ign on and ground.

self dianosis is piss poor, not much to the injection, just one O2 sensor each sidethat are unheated, a map sensor on the manifold, throttle position sensor and an engine temp sensor apart from the crank sensor mentioned earlier.

the ignition is stand alone, and the injection is piggybacked onto it.

man this is taxing my memory, i didn't know these engines were still out there.

do you have a wiring diagram?
