Hello to all you crazy Locost people. I am still out here annoying people. After I finally got over my vestibular balance problem caused by too many concussions they say I was about to get enthused again and now my right hip is going away. I had the left one replaced about 8 years ago. Some days it does not want to take any weight at all. Getting old sucks. I will be 83 in early January. I still want to finish it but is looking less likely every day. i am not happy about that but the good lord has a plan for me and I am powerless to change that. I spent some time in the shop today cleaning off my steel workbench. I'm not sure why but all the horizontal surfaces in my shop must be magnetic. They attract all sorts of stuff. I hope you are all well and having fun with your cars.
Howard. :D

Howard,

HAHAHAHA I have that same type of magnetic work surfaces. Hope you get to feeling better with the hip.

Call me when you're able.

Tom

Good to see you're still at it, I was getting a bit worried. I have the same problem with work benches, but I don't think it's only magnetism due to the presence of all kinds of wood and aluminum as well as steel.

Hey Howard, good to hear from ya. I don't have a magnetic workbench. I think my garage bay workshop does have a locally strengthened gravitational field though. its pulled in enough stuff that I have to step over the front wheels of the b-3 every time I need to walk from the front to the back of the shop. I might have 4 sq feet of free floor space left in a couple places.

good luck, and keep on keeping on.

Yo, Howard!
Good to hear from you, Sir! And it's good to know you're still kicking... Well, with the one good hip anyway... (Bad joke, sorry.)

Hang in there, do a little bit on the car when you can, try to enjoy yourself. (Eat TWO desserts, what the hell!)

I thought my garage attracted scrap metal/junk/trash/furniture/leaves/donkeys because of the gravitational anomaly here at the Center of the Universe. Maybe I ain't that unique after all...

Glad to hear you're back, Howard.

I had an idea. It's probably a bad one, but, I'll put it out anyway. Why don't you try to find a young guy who wants to learn fab work and offer him a live-in situation with hands-on training if he helps you finish your Locost? You've got a great, well-equipped shop, years of experience and there are lots of younger guys wanting to learn. Maybe try one of the off-road training schools and see if they have a candidate? It's just a thought, but it might work for you.

Cheers,

Lonnie,

That would be a great idea except for two reasons. He is out in the boonies, I mean REALLY out there. And two, his health would preclude any systematic scheduling. An ideal setup would be for a young, good looking, female (sorry Gonzo) health care worker who wants to learn about cars to move in with him. But then he might not ever get back in the shop. Never mind.

Funny Tom. Actually if she was good looking, it might hasten his demise - heart attack.

Cheers,

Hahaha. Either way would probably work for me.

Howard, I was telling my dad a bit about your streamliner and your locost build tonight. Him and my mom will be heading down to Arizona some time in January, and my dad says if you're up to it, he'd like to come shoot the breeze with you for a bit. He made it to Bonneville for speed week as a spectator some time back in the 60's or 70's and used to drag race a Falcon with a 427 SOHC up here in Canada back in the day.

Howard,

Are you there? Hope you are okay. I've been calling your cell phone and leaving messages.

Dang. I hope we didn't lose you.

Does anyone have Howard's full name and address? I'm from that area and have family very close to him. I could ask them if they know him or could ask around.

I think I can get his address off of my GPS unit's history. I will check in a few hours. The last email from him was sort of depressing and over 3 weeks ago. His health is so bad I am really worried about him.
