I have the steering all done except for drilling and tapping the steering rack. I have the 17mm x 1 tap, which if anyone needs to borrow let me know, but am waiting on my friend to drill and tap it on his lathe. I wasn't too confident I could drill and tap it straight with my setup at home. I am still waiting on the tie rod extenders from Jack anyways so no rush on tapping the hole. It is nice being able to turn the steering wheel and seeing the rack move. I will post picks soon, I forgot the cable for my phone at home.

Big day last night, I finished installing the shock brackets and made up some fake shocks so I could put the car on the ground for the first time. It was nice to go vroom vroom so close to the ground instead of being up on the build table. Lots of work ahead but it is a good motivator to keep working.

Hey, looking good. I had a hard time doing any work once I had kids too, in fact mine sat in the garage basically on touched for almost 3 years. It can be tough finding time away from the kids, but they'll be out there with you in no time. My youngest was out in the shop and climbing all over whatever I was working on when he wasn't much more than a year old. It's still kind of frustrating trying to make actual progress with them "helping", but they usually like spending time in the shop now. You're moving right along though. Rx7locost is right, you're 80% done now, only 80% left to do.

Started on the exhaust manifold. Decided to keep it cheap and easy so I cut the flange off the stock Miata header and just extended the tubing with 1 5/8" pipe I bought from Summit racing. From here I will go into the Cat that came off my donor Miata and into a Jones muffler. From the collector back will all be 2 1/2" tubing that I had left over from when I built the exhaust for my Fiero engine swap. So all in after I buy the muffler, I will have less than $50 in the exhaust system. It will all be supported from above by the stock Miata rubber exhaust hangers.

$15 - 1 5/8" tubing
$6 - O2 bungs
$28 - Muffler

The picture adder doesn't seem to be loading up the pics right now, but I will try again this afternoon.

Had a good weekend end worth of work on the car. A huge shout out and thanks to Eric, smith, on the forum. He volunteered to spend the afternoon at my place to bend my roll bar, dash and rear tube. The dash and rear tube we did in two pieces to be welded together and the roll bar we did in one continuous bend. I already have the dash and roll bar tacked and on the frame. I hope to tack together the rear tubes and roll bar braces this weekend.

The dash is turning out real nice. I am going against the grain and welding my dash/scuttle to the car as part of the frame. My plan for the dash is to inset the dash into round tubing. Right now I have it set up so the dash will be at the same angle as the steering wheel and my NRG Hub is 1/4" above the dash

My brake hoses are due in today so I may also start working on routing my brake lines.

I am still having issues with the image uploader so no pictures. I will post something in the report a problem section to see if I can get this figured out.

About the only issues I have with the picture uploader is when the files are too large or when they are not in a .jpg format. Try looking at both those things.

File size is less than 200kb and are jpgs. No different than any of the other pics I have uploaded.

I am trying to upload a 40 kb jpg with the same result, so I do not think it is a file size issue.

test

Works for me. Are you possibly forgetting to hit the "Add the file" button after browsing and selecting the Jpg?

I don't think its quite that simple. I am hitting the add the file button and it brings up a pop up window saying its uploading the file but that's where things stop working.

I will try at home. Maybe they did something to the firewall at work that is causing a problem.

OK Chris. Just thinking what I have done.

It may be your work firewall, as you say.
