It's been in the 80s(F) here lately.

I feel bad for short leg dogs dragging their equipment in deep snow.

Looks like you could use a wind break on the deck, like they have for coastal areas. Just a big dog-leg frame with a mesh insert you can see through.

Well this build is coming to an end. Inspection was done, went to registries for licence plate, the car is now legal for the road. Plan to test drive within the next few weeks.
Still need to fab some plexi wings for the windshield and install some weatherstrip around trunk (boot) lid opening, and some 3M rock guard for the front of the rear fenders and mud flaps for the front fenders.
Some pics.

I don't know if it's the lack of gap between the fenders and rubber, but those tires look huge.

Good job on being road legal!

Have you used up your supply of COLD noses yet, or is there a black market source? :-)

Hey Warren I still have one more hanging in the car garage. Going to use it for the Slant Six Super 7 when I get around to it.

Hey Perry,

I was looking over your method of laying out and building the front control arms, chassis mounts and coilover mounts starting on page 6 of this build log. What you did makes a lot of sense and I like it. I don't plan to elevate my chassis, however. I'm going to leave it on the build table top.

I'm going to use a hybrid version of your method, and I know I'll have some questions for you later on. One I already have is how did you determine the layout for the wooden spindle mounts, like the correct height for the bolt holes, so the spindle center was at correct height?

I'm going to make a platform with it's top 6" below my build table top (that will set my ride height) like I did at the rear. That's all I needed back there because it's a live axle. For the front, I have my wheels and tires, so I want to see where things will line up when the front spindles are mounted to the wheel/tire combo, and it's at correct ride height.

However, to actually work, assemble and verify the physical pieces of the control arms, mounts, etc, then having wooden spindle mounts like yours did would be ideal. I'll make my initial platform strong enough to hold them and allow move them around with clamping as you did.

I'm excited to be at this stage, but have to figure out how to get accurate measurements on my donor parts.

Cheers,

That's an easy one Lonnie. The wheel bolt pattern and wooden spindle mounts are at the height of the spindle centreline with the diameter tires I was using. Lets say you mount your tire on the rim and mount it to the front spindle. Measure the height of the spindle centreline to the ground. Lets say that measurement is 12.5", you make the wooden spindle mounts to have the spindle sit at 12.5" when bolted to it.
