Just a bit of info here.
I use wire markers where I have to do my own wiring connections. Keeps it simple when taking things apart and reconnecting them weeks/months later.

Oh, Cool!!! Two very good, smart ideas... And entirely too late for my build...

I usually mark wires with duct tape "tags" as I disconnect. Works good if A) I remember to do it and B) the duct tape doesn't fall off of more than one wire end and C) If I don't label two sets of them as "#3".

Clear shrink tube - gotta get me some!

Yesterday I ran the car for about 1/2 hr, checked all lighting operation, checked all engine parameters on instrument panel, steering, trans shifting, all good.

After 12 hrs in shop today, here it is.

For those of you who are thinking that I've been slacking off, here's a bit of an update.

Frame is on the rotisserie, been doing a lot of finish welding on the sq tube. Today I starting filling some gaps in the space frame with 16 ga steel sheet.




And just fooling around, I bet JD don't realize Team Slotus has a Northern division.....

I'm sorry, but here at Team Slotus we have standards that we have to live down to and I'm afraid your welding and mechanical and bodywork skills are just not crappy enough to be acceptable. I'm going to have to ask you to remove our logo from your sign.

I know you'll be disappointed, but in time I think you will come to appreciate the service we've done for you. If, in the future, your work quality should happen to decline to an acceptable level, we will reconsider your application.

Perry, what's the gauge of that sheet metal for the rear panels? Your fitting and welding there is amazing.

I love it!! If regression is what it takes - I'll do it! May not post pics of my regression but it will happen.

Out to the shop for a bit today. Welding, welding, welding.
Made some wiring and fuel standoffs and welded them in the tunnel.


Cut out some 16 ga steel with the plasma cutter, floor and tunnel panels. Got the tunnel panels welded up. Just some boring frame pics.

In the shop for a bit today. Fabbed up the seat belt ratchet mounts. The release button arm that I have against the tunnel will be bolted to the buckets seat. The other end of the seat belt web end will bolted to the lower trailing arm mount (1/2" bolt).




Welded up the seat back metal sheet and the floor. Used 2" weld stitches spaced every 1".


The X welding prevents "oil canning" of the floor

So, does the welded "X" shrink when cooled and remove any oil can buckling of the floor, Perry?

How do you get in there to bolt the seat down? Hole in the floor, what about the top bolt, long wrench, tight but your only tightening it once?

That's correct Lonnie, the weld shrinks the steel so it will not oil can. It's the alternative to bead rolling the floor.


Josh, the front bucket slide rail bolt holes are exposed when the seat is fully back, once the front bolts are in I slide the seat fully to the front and expose the rear bolt holes. All done from the inside of the cockpit leaning over the bucket seat.
