Hey Larry

I use an industrial type power polisher with spiral sewn buffing wheel https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/8-in-spiral-sewn-80-ply-buffing-wheel/A-p8066649e and what I call polishing clay. Come in different grits from coarse to fine.
I use brown, then red, then wash entire car with varsol (paint thinner), then soap and water, then power polish with Turtle wax.

Looks like your Harbor Freight has something similar.

Thanks Perry! My confusion was the term 'clay'. Did some amateur silversmithing around 40 years ago and used these compounds to polish what I made. The red tripoli was used for fast cutting, almost as good as wet sanding with 1000 grit. There was yellow and white sticks as well. Didn't cut as fast but put a high polish on the sterling.

I no longer have a large buffer. Had one I used on my boat but it was a killer to use. Called it 'buffzilla'. The wheels your link shows could easily be used with a drill type tool if they are fast enough. I might even have some remnants of the old stuff if I look hard enough.

I'll let you know how things turn out.

Thanks again for your help!

No problem at all Larry, I like to think this site has no borders, we are all here for a common goal (and entertainment, and the odd time just talking rubbish).

Out to the shop today for a bit. Finished polishing the 7, it's a good as it's gonna get.

Started some final assembly. Exhaust completed. Hood latches installed. Looking at the hood latch photo I would like to mention that on all 3 builds I leave at least a 1/2" gap/space between the hood and the side body of the car. This is my fix for not having hood louvers letting hot air escape the engine compartment.

An observer might say that after polishing the previous builds, this time you would get smart and let it go au naturel. But then you are getting more experienced and it should not take as much effort now.

Another amazing build Perry.

Perry, Looks like you are only good for a two dog night! Good thing its already springtime.

Build is looking awesome. Question on your front fender stays: You previously shared the details on how you fab/attach them. I'm copying your approach. My question is about the joint between the tubes that insert into the fenders and the radial tubes up from the spindles. Are those welded joints? Mitered first? or fishmouthed then butted? Any gusseting, etc.? The joints look like really tight bends, but I expect that's your craftmanship at work.

The pieces were angle cut to achieve the desired angle then butt welded. Then added a gusset to the inside. Here's some pics I found.

I forgot to mention that I cut the pointy corners off and welded a small filler piece to give it a more rounded look.
