What if I just wrench the end on tight to the extension and lock it down. I can’t get a 14x1.0 in this town to save my &$&&

Steve,
14x1.5 is fine thread and 14x2.0 is course thread. Are you sure that you have 14x1.0 on that rod end?

I bought a 14x1.5 and it didn’t work so as best I could measured the thread distance. I made the extension it threads into. It’s like 9/16 on the rack and this metric. I could have sworn I bought the metric end at my favorite hardware store and gambled on the 1.5. Didn’t work. I am stopping at Fastenal tomorrow if that doesn’t work I’ll have to order out to summit.

Hey Steve
Take your time, get the right jam nuts for the TRE. It will be well worth your piece of mind not to mention passing inspection.
You only have to correct this once

I am wondering then if the bin had the wrong nuts in the bin. They might be 2.0. See I didn’t have the ball joint with me I had the extension thinking I would use the test board. Then the test board only went to 12M so I guessed. Then I measure the threads at home with my digital calipers and it said .99M. That was my Sunday morning.

I found a set online that’s 14x1 we’ll see when I get them.

Found out yesterday from the MRI I had done last week I need shoulder surgery. I guess the 25yrs of construction has taken its toll. A couple separated tensions that need to be put back. This puppy has been a problem for 3yrs. June 28 is the day. Then it’s 6weeks of immobilized shoulder and then I get 3months of rehab and physical therapy to bring it back to life. The Dr said he’d have me golfing again. Ok we’ll see. Can’t fit those in a 7 but I do enjoy it. Still no Vin or plates so I am not missing much.

Trust me I really thought about this. This was the clincher. I asked my doctor what he thought about me doing surgery in fall. He said you certainly can but their isn’t a whole lot holding your arm on right now  Ok I’ll do it now. Really sucks.

Well that sucks!

"Get 'er done" now and be fully recovered by next year. Focus on your health/rehab, not the car. The car will be waiting. This also releases a bit of self-induced pressure to have your car road ready this year.

Nothing prevents you from riding with Russ a few days before your surgery, if Russ will let you that is.

Guess what? There 14x1.5 :BH: I got the 1.0’s today and they don’t work. Apparently I need lessons on how to put a nut on a stud. I have 3-14x1.5 and they all thread on a little bit different. One I need a wrench for. It’s too tight my hand but it doesn’t mar the threads. So the drama is over thank God.
