Thanks Russ, I had to change it up, just didn't like the first rendition. It's a very puttsy process. You never know, when your ready we may be able to work something out for a header.

Got the #4 cylinder done. Took this all apart to start welding it out and ran out of Argon No wonder my gauge hasn't been moving. So this is a very abrupt end to my day. This week I'll get a few more fittings and replace the return line above the header with stainless tube to keep it from melting and the header will get wrapped when i'am done. Try and keep the heat down as much as possible.

Even with the wrap I wonder if some kind of heat shield under the radiator hose might be a good idea?

I thought about that too. I may just wrap that return pipe and ceramic coat the header. We'll see.

I used a P-trap kit from the hardware store for my return line. I have had no heating problems being this close to the header.

Fabricated a support to help keep it off the header.

Larry, that does looks sweet. However........ a P-trap is typically made from very, VERY thin metal. And it is not designed to handle any pressure at all. Before you get too far, I would suggest at the minimum change over to copper pipe, the kind reated for water service, not DWV. It won't have the bling of the Chrome P-trap though.

Larry your a saint. I work with this crap every day and I forgot about the saddle pipe support, Perfect!! . I have the tube just short 2 fitting $12 easy stuff. Good to know your good on temps. I love less work

Hope I don't lead you astray. However despite Chuck's warning I haven't had any problem yet. Then again it's never gotten too hot so perhaps it's pressure holding abilities hasn't been properly tested. Fan kicks in just below 220 and brings temp back to 180 pretty quick. Have about 1,600 miles on it so far. Also I don't drive it very hard.

I do regret not putting a bead on the plain ends. Will do that some day. Just don't want to drain the coolant out.

I have used Aluminum tubing, found at my local scrap yard, in 1.25" od with a 1/8 thickness to be very useful in this area. The tubing also acts as a radiator to displace the heat.

Red that's not a bad idea. How long is it? I do have to put a 1/4" tap in it for my idle air valve return line. Have any 1/4" too? How much do you want for it?

Red I did a little looking at fittings for aluminum and their pretty expensive. Thanks anyway I think I'll just stick to the stainless.

So this is done. I would like to first say this started off so well and on Saturday when right to crap. Never buy a formed collector. the problem I had with merge collectors were pipe size. Nothing came in the sizes I needed except the $400 collectors. So upon welding the header up it went well. I thought I was going to have a big problem with warping the flange. I watched that thing do all sorts of funky stuff and it kept coming back to straight when I let it cool off. went to weld the collector I did the same thing. Weld a little cool back to room temp. It warped and pulled the bottom 90 2inches up. !!!. WOW. So cut the end off miter a piece of 3" (lucky to have around) so its not hitting the frame and proceed to where we are today. TA DA!!. Man that got dicey.

Question: Can anyone tell me what I might expect for a level of noise from this? I can't wait to hear this thing. I am on to running fuel lines finish coolant tube (which is basically done) fill coolant, and wire O2 controller. Should be ready for a fire. Its getting close. I don't even want to go to work. Just stay home and knick this out.
