The header isn't too bad, but the downpipe is a genuine POS. It's going to get a good bit of rework.

I have the cast iron manifold if the header gives up the ghost.

A little more Craigslist searching and I finally laid hands on a S13 manual driveshaft. Hopefully Saturday will be spent building the shaft to mate Nissan trans to Mazda rear.

Got a few more bits on order so there's intercooler plumbing to do and exhaust to build.

Do you have all the parts to finish the exhaust? I can come down this weekend and give a hand if you like.

I don't. I guess that small box of tubes is coming in from BFE

My weekend work plan seems to vary based on which parts come in. Since I scored the driveshaft last night, that can move up my priority list.

I need to draft Wifey Dearest to be my parts manager. She'd be sure stuff is here on time and keep me on budget.

Right now stuff on order that should arrive in the next 3-10 days
Chilton Manual
Intercooler pipe kit for S13 red top
blow off valve
turbo drain fitting and hose
exhaust pieces
3 row Civic radiator

Soooo, Friday morning update of parts in transit.

Exhaust pipe pieces scheduled for delivery sometime between Monday 16th and Thursday 19th. Been on back order for 3 weeks
Chilton manual arrived last night
turbo drain pipe and fitting arrived last night

Intercooler pipe kit could arrive today; most likely won't show until Monday

Reamer is in route scheduled to arrive today... THANKS RoyzMG!!!

So it looks like the weekend work plan is as follows
install turbo drain
Work on fabricating driveshaft
ream uprights to flip the tie rod ends
relocate steering rack
shorten steering shaft between rack and column u-joints
untangle wiring harness and start plugging in sensors and such

We'll see how it goes.

Not much progress this weekend.

The turbo drain kit showed up... didn't fit. It had the flange for a T6 I thin instead of a T3 T4

The intercooler kit showed up... didn't fit. Well, it sort of fit, but not really. I could almost make the tubes line up, but the outlet expands up to 3" instead of 2 1/2. Working on a return to the seller, definitely not as described in the ad.

Tapered reamer didn't show. No work on moving the rack

Two bits of progress.

I cut the driveshaft apart. Front yoke attached to guibo and rear flange to u-joint. A little fiddling, a little measuring to determine length of tube to cut. Some test fitting, then final weld. Check that one off the list.

Other bit of progress was thinking about wiring. I pulled out the remains of the harness and started plugging things in. Good news is it looks like nearly everything is intact from the ECU to the engine. Bad news is I have some research to learn how much stuff I can eliminate in pursuit of simplify and add lightness. Hopefully guys on the Nissan forum can shed some light.

A little slow going in the garage this weekend. I'm moving really slow with the effd up shoulder

Saturday morning - blow the front end totally apart.
The reamer was here, so I blew it all apart and reamed the spindles to be able to flip the tie rod ends to the top.

That allowed me to relocate the rack inboard. Welded in a cross bar and moved the rack mounts onto the new piece.
Bolted up the rack and checked everything through full range of motion. No worries with bump steer and I have full travel through the range of motion of the top ball joint.

With the rack location changed I needed to shorten the steering column by about 6 inches. Cut, grind, sand, test fit... Welded up the column and called it a day. I hit the shower and downed a couple of Aleve.

Today I thought I'd spend the day trying to rough in the intercooler piping.
I hung the nose cone and started trying to decide between the wide GodSpeed front mount and the little Greddy top mount.
I fitted and took apart probably a dozen times playing with the routing. I just couldn't get my 3d visualization to work with the prebend kit.

The tape on the nose is where I almost went with the Greddy. I just didn't like to look of the intercooler tubes popping up through the nose. Ended up going with the GodSpeed. The 45 degree angles are a no go.

Instead switched to 70 degree up front and used a 45 to drop into the throttle body. One side done.

Head to the other side and use another 70 to start and a straight to get close to the turbo outlet. A little tape and some junk to prop it in place.

Sorry for the pure crap pic, but it was late, I was sore and I didn't notice the pic was crap until I sat down and started writing this update. Anyway, all I need to do is cut down a 90 to attach the turbo outlet to the pipe.

On the inlet I cut down my spare and I'm putting a piece of tube trim to extend the MAF forward.

I still need to cut some tubes for the recirc and the IAC.

Piddly stuff in the garage this weekend. I tweaked my shoulder yesterday moving the project around in the garage and ended my day early. Took pain drugs and sat on the couch watching my Tigers beat the Gamecocks.

Today, more piddly stuff, but did manage to get with my neighbor and weld up the turbo inlet and outlet tubes.

The welds are rough and ugly, but a little time with a file and sanding disc will take care of that.

I got the clocking off on the recirc tube on the inlet. I'll have to do something about that.
I have another inlet and some extra tube, so I can always re-make it.

Shoulder surgery is scheduled for 12/9/15. I can't wait to get it done.

Exciting day at the Too Busy Garage

First was a little metal finishing on the turbo plumbing. File, coarse sanding disc, fine sanding disc and the tape welds are all but nonexistent.
Next up lengthened the tie rods a little. I wasn't happy with the lack of thread engagement, so cut them in 1/2 and slipped the pieces into a sleeve adding 3/4" to each side.

Most exciting part of the day was pulling the car off the table.
SHE'S A ROLLER!!!!!!!

Radiator is on the way.

Time to start some wiring.

Time in the garage today was fun. It was a little cool, my Tigers won last night and I had everything I needed to make a little progress.

First up was mounting tabs for the intercooler. A little 1/8 inch steel, a couple of tack welds until the radiator is in place.

After that was done I piddled with the rack mounting some more. It's nice and rigid now with no play.

Last item was the main floor.
Cut a piece of steel to 45x55 and hammered a lip on it for stiffness. The lip will get welded to the rear frame rail.
Clamped it in place to mark the tapers for trimming.

Then I called Wifey Dearest out to the garage to lend a hand. I needed power for the bead roller. :D
She was the power, I was the steering. They aren't perfect but Ive got some nice stiffening ribs in the floor pans.

All tacked in and wheeled onto the trailer to fit everything back in the garage.

Best of luck on your surgery Tommy. Heal up properly and try to take it easy so you can do just that. Couple of weeks should hurt you too bad on getting the car completed my a certain time.

I'll be doing a lot of reading on what circuits I can remove from the harness. Wiring is giving me way more anxiety than fabrication.
