I pulled the video and data from the tablet that I had running TrackAddict. Pretty darn cool data collection from a free Verizon tablet.
Due to mounting, the acceleration comes from the Z axis, which is kind of the least reliable. Looks like the software can pull in other data inputs as well.

Here's the first run when I lost it in a hard left. Reeled it in and had a fairly decent run all things considered. It felt like I was on the grip edge during the big right hand sweeper, but the data says I had a lot more to go.

I posted last week that I was thinking about selling the 7 to thin the herd while Wifey Dearest and I go through a downsizing move.

So far I have a few interesting offers.

One wants to swap his NA Miata street prepared car. Basically a gutted Miata with 200k miles riding on coilovers with some nice tires... not really interested in that one
Another wants to swap a Fox Mustang... nope
Another offered up a Harley iron head Sportster and a couple of nice Glocks... hmmm not yet

And the most interesting trade offer come from thewelder on here. Yep Chad, the same person I picked up the B Mod project from.
Here's what we're talking about

It's a Polaris 900cc triple snowmobile powered BEAST.

Call me a dinosaur but I do have a soft spot for 2 strokes. I can only imagine what that sounds like.

Didn't he just get that from down in FL?

He did. He got it going this season and has been pretty successful with it. It's a lot for me to handle, but learning should be fun. I have his FSAE car too and might swap out the final drive to add a rear diff to this car and put the locker in the FSAE.

Not really downsizing my projects except for a reduction in extra bits and pieces that I have accumulated for the 7.

If we do this deal I'm loading Chad up with accumulated bits. Spare head, spare bellhousing, griffin radiator, all the lights and bits, a couple of puke tanks, lots of small bits.

The car was advertised on CraigsList in FL last year and I just happened to be down there at the time. I contacted the PO and tried to set-up a time to come and see the car. I explained to him that I was leaving in 2 days, but he never got back in touch with me. It sucked as I figured it would make a fun hillclimb car.

Since then, I decided to begin accumulating parts for my own build. Not exactly "Lo-cost", but there aren't that many places that you need to spend big $$$, so when I was able to find these, I grabbed them. It's a start I guess, a Quaife chain drive differential and a set of Ohlins ST-44 remote resevoir shocks.

I need to decide whether to build a hillclimb formula car or sports racer or move forward with my RM-7 project. If you do the deal and decide that you are changing diff's and want a Quaife vs building one yourself from an automotive piece, let me know. I may part with the Quaife and move forward with the RM instead.

Dan

Thanks Dan much appreciated. I'll keep that in mind.

The FSAE project has a nice automotive unit in a can set up for chain drive. I need to look some more at how Chad's car is set up whether it run a jackshaft to the final drive or is a straight CVT setup. That will sort of determine the path forward. He tells me it drives well with the locker. I hope it's easier to drive than my F500 was.

A deal has been struck. The Sports racer is coming to live in Summerville and the 7 is headed to TN to get a makeover for street and track. All the lights and extra bits are going to Chad to make his life a little easier on the makeover.

As for me. I hope to swap the center section from the other A Mod into the sports racer without too much difficulty. I'll drive the new one next season and build the bike powered one in my spare time.

It doesn't really solve my space issue for the move, but I should be going down quite a few total items. The garage will be a little neater and I can get rid of the build table because the second car is a roller now and all of the stuff down on the bottom shelf will go home with Chad.

I guess this will make the 4th Locost to pass through my hands in a little over 3 years. 3 of them brought to life, running driving, and sorted. The 4th is with hpbugeye waiting for him to apply his incredible set of skills to finish it up.

It's just a toy Josh. They come and go all through your life. Of the 3 I've built, this one was BY FAR the most powerful and is quickly becoming a real joy to thrash around a Solo course. I think that Chad will take it to the next level. I know for a fact that he's a better driver than I am.

I'm looking forward to taking The Beast out for a drive. There may be an opportunity down near Jacksonville before Christmas.

Sadly I'm going to miss Axis vs Allies as he will be picking up the car that weekend. I wonder which team OOPS would play for; an Ally design with an Axis of Evil heart.

We'd classify that as a "War Bride" and it would be on the Allied side...

Love it JD!

Ive about decided that I get as much or more joy from the building as I do from the having a toy. Once I have them running and driving, I really don't get to play with the toys enough and I'm ready for another build project.

This next year I'm going to try to do both. I'm going to driving school in the beater / daily driver BMW 318ti. It's a GENUINE POS, but a great learning tool. It's fairly slow, has responsive steering, and close to 50/50 weight distribution. Most important aspect is it has a passenger's seat, so I can have an instructor with me.

I'll campaign The Beast in out local Solo group and probably hit an event or two with the NC or Coastal Empire groups.

Meanwhile, I'll be rebuilding the little car with the 600 GSXR powertrain. It's overdue for some updates and I can take all the time I want with it.

We'll see how this plan works out. If someone comes along with a fistful of cash, these plans are subject to change.

Completed Locost #3 aka OOPS went to a new home today.
Chad Summey drove down from TN and picked up OOPS

And dropped off a hot little sports racer in it's place.

He dropped off the car and spares and went home with a car and spares
I've got an extra set of Keiser wheels and some old and kid of hard Hoosiers that I can play with. also 2 spare bottom ends, and a set of 900cc jugs and pistons, carbs, another CVT clutch, a bunch of cluth ramps, carb jets, and several wing pieces plus a ricer wing.

Not sure if there's less in the garage or more. I can say for certain that squeezing OOPS onto Chads trailer was a test of our nerves. It fits with maybe 2 inches to spare.
