Yeah, I plan on remaking the hood with louvers.

I made the down pipe and started to put things in for the final time. Still missing alot of little bits but have most of what I need on order so its a waiting game now.

I had too much work this week so hopefully next week will be slow enough that I have time to get more done.

Nice work. Considering the thickness of your flanges, I am suprised you did not use black steel schedule 80 weld pipe for the tubing. Corky Bell calls it "weld-L". I have seen a few aftermarket kits use the industrial plumber pipe.

You can get the weld L in stainless too. There are a couple threads on another board I visit about making turbo headers with it. They came out really nice too. Just kinda heavy.

Yeah, it is heavy. The last manifold I made for that motor was out of that stuff but I had this pipe laying around so instead of spending money I figured I'd give it a try first.

So all the main fabrication is done but still have a few things to take care of like the fuel system and wiring. I'm still tring to find a good inline pump to use. My roomate had a lock on one but he is out of town on vacation and dont know if I should wait or just pay retail for one. I'll probably just run the lines for it and if thats the last thing to get it running then I'll just buy it.

The wireing is should be straight forward since I had it running on this motor before, just need to redo all the shrink wrap and stuff so everything fits nice again.

Kieth Tanner used a Pierburg on his build.

I've seen them on Ebay cheap, I think they are an Audi piece.

I bought one of these MSD Pumps from Summit. They are cheap and should do the trick.

I used a Ford F-150 pump. If it can feed a 5.0, it can feed a turbo 4.

Ordered the MSD pump and a muffler. Should be here tomarro. Worked on the engine harness today and got maybe half way done with it. Its so much faster to just use electical tape and wrap the wires but I decided to use heat shrink tubing for everything. It looks good but its taking so much longer.

sorry I havent updated in a while. I had to put this project on the side for a bit. I ended up buying another car and had a week and a half to build it before a drift comp in AZ. So that took all my time and I'm still recovering. I did finish 3rd in the comp which was good for such a short time on the build.

Anyway I got back to work on the locost and I just need to get it running so nothing is going to look pretty cause I just dont have the time to make it look nice anymore. I did get it running yesterday and hopefully button things up and take it for a ride today. Thats if I can find a throttle cable in the next few hours.

Its running!!!
And its so much better then before. I'm so glad I finally changed the motor out. It does feel like its a little down on power so it may be going onto the dyno shortly. Anyway, its still fast. There is also a gymkana event on sat so that will be fun.

Thanks chetcpo. I took it to the gymhkana event on sat and had a lot of fun driving it. Its still not as fast as I wanted it but it will do for now.

Just a couple issues still left, the rear end has an open diff which made it hard to control the transitions. Sometimes it would start to slide and sometimes it would just understeer.

The rear end gears are too tall. Feels like it has a 3.7 or something where I'm used to a 4.3. I havent been able to hold 4th gear down on the freeway. You end up going way too fast for that little car. I get scared and have to lift. I've probably got it up to 130 or so, and its not that much fun. I'm looking for something thats fast 0 to 100. I dont need it to top out at 200mph.

I need to redo the pedals to make them more freindly for heel and toe. I'm thinking of moving the whole pedal box area forward another few inches to give better leg room.

It needs a better passenger seat. I rode passenger when a few friends drove, and I couldnt hang on. You get tossed around alot.

Time to also make it look a bit nicer. I've decided to use vinal instead of paint. Mainly to cut down on the rock chips. After this weekend, almost all the paint has been knocked off the bottoms of the rear fenders. If I repaint it, then it will just get messed up again. At least with vinal, it will be easier to fix and beable to take more damage before it needs to be fixed.

Also time for a cage. The open ness of the car is cool but i want to be safe when something does happen.

I havent posted in a while but I did do a couple things. I did adjust all the pedals. That helped out alot. And finally vinyled the car. Here is a couple pics from this past weekends drift event.
