Hello everybody. What are you silent all;) And I'm still finishing the car on trifles. Here are the fixings for the radiator and muffler. And I was advised to put so-called breatherback. Since I have a filler neck in the radiator below the level of the cylinder head and the coolant will not fill it. I was given this thing from the subaru, I installed it as it seems to me in the right place. And I'm still looking for a processor

Good day to all. A little news! Congratulate me, I finally started the engine !! Fortunately there is no limit. Of course, there is still a lot of tuning and many more trivia. I also installed the headlights. And I also bought a pair of aluminum sheets for the lining of the cabin and the sidewalls.

P.S. All good))

Congratulations on your continued progress. It looks like it's warm enough to work where you are. At least there are no signs of icicles in your garage [LOL]. Tomorrow is the first day of the Spring season here. What is Springtime like in Siberia?

Cheers,

Hello Lonnie-S, nice that you are interested. We have a very cold winter in Siberia and a lot of snow. Therefore, in the garage we are heating the stove constantly, that would work in it. Now we also have spring. Everything melts very quickly. Our garage was flooded. But the water has not yet reached the car. We pump water with a hydraulic pump. Here you have some photos from the winter holidays from Siberia)))

Ah. Now I see what you meant when you mentioned 3D printing the nose cone. You sliced the model in all three planes, printed out pieces that would fit on your printer bed, and then stuck them together.

That's a neat trick! I'm not used to thinking about assembling things that way...

Are you going to try to smooth the surface with acetone, or just by sanding and body filler (if needed)? You're not worried about the glued joints coming apart from vibration? Or did you make them interlock somehow?

I did everything as you described. In my situation, I did not find the best option (I try to do everything budgetary). I could buy a nose fairing, but all that is on the market is either expensive, or cut and customized in place. Such a prospect did not please me. The printer owner is my friend. I turned to him with a proposal to print the nose fairing. He gladly decided to help me. I only bought wire for the printer.
In the future, I plan to strengthen it from the inside with fiberglass. And from the outside I'll clean all the irregularities, cover it with a putty and paint it.
Here's a photo of how I additionally stitched the pieces together.

Good day to all. So the work continues. I finished the braking system, I laid the fuel wire. And now he began to trim the interior and exterior panels. And I also had to print wings. It seems I bought all the blue plastic in the city so the front wings turned out to be multicolored)))

Wow! What a nice looking build! I am really intrigued with the 3D printed parts. I'm curious to see how you finish them off.

Thank you so much

Worked today
I'm sorry, the garage is very dusty. The boys repair other cars (from which I rent a room).

Hello comrades of the forum! I will continue my blog about building a budget car in Siberia. Can not be surprised we had snow yesterday))). But to me all is equal. I have a goal and it should be taken. (It's a pity you do not listen to our music, otherwise I would sing to you). This is the lyrics))))
And on the work and plans for the future, the following was done. I made all the panels of the plating until I was fastened. I decided to adjust everything for a start. The most difficult was the upper paneling of the instrument panel. I on the one hand for rolling it from other sides just bent inward. Now I think I need to fix everything and put the wiring in place. Cut off all unnecessary and lay in a corrugated tube. And also to come up with fasteners for all plastic parts. From my modest experience obtained when working with aluminum, I understand that it will most likely be difficult to make a bonnet made of aluminum without a frame. Here I think if only annealed to use, hard springs strongly. But again, it's a risk to throw money away. And I decided not to sew sidewalls from the nose cone to the monocoque.

Great build, and I think this is fantastic considering where you are. very beautiful area, looks darn cold though!

I am in China, maybe I can visit you soon. Russia and China seem to be freinds again at the moment.

I am also curious about the 3D printing, what is the maximum size pieces you can make at a time? What brand and model is your 3D printer please?
