Hi! Ive been lurking here for years and finally signed up
I've always loved the ultra light lotus 7 style stuff. my background is in tracking and racing Honda's , and I still do that (NASA, Scca w2w, and I'm the Motorsports director for the Gridlife series, so I'm at the track a lot) , but I stumbled upon an incredibly unloved old , one off (the only full body car they made, and the only racecar they have made) Fraser. It's a boutique new Zealand company that builds nice cars.
In a previous life, when new, Steve millen drove this one a few times, but I guess it was always problem riddled. Miss fire prone due to the exhaust header being basically wrapped around the distributor, and I think that's what killed it finally for me on the first weekend I had it at the track, but oh my was it unbelievable fun to drive
Then I bought an R1 engine...

How it looked when I got it . Bolt on roll bar will be rebuilt, it's a cobbled together piece now. Some other crash protection will be added too, for driver and fuel cell.

A pic from Fraser cars from when brand new. Close out panel for "passenger" side got lost sometime in the last 20 years, and the paint job got a lot uglier!

Me driving it at Gridlife Blackhawk Farms track day picnic this August. Oh it was fantastic. (I went through it all prior for safety, put new-er Hoosiers on, and new fluids, etc)
I think part of the reason it exploded (actually melted a Piston, bottom end is still useable with hone/new piston) is it's a CRAZY 4age. I believe it is most of the parts of an old formula Atlantic engine. It's also (it turns out) a twin disc low inertia clutch, and TRD close ratio trans. It's dry sump too. I think it did not like the regular gas I put in. (was told "I think it's just a stock engine" )
I'm not able to really play with something that nuts and expensive, and pay my bills, so it'll get sold off or mothballed, and the r1 will go in. This is strictly for fun and smiles

It's hot crazy huge brakes. 1.25" thick, 12+" rotor. They work well . Incredible brakes....must be a lower temp pad as it had no bite issues , with a light car and such huge brakes. It did no noticable wear to Hoosiers in a half dozen sessions too. I love having a 1000 lb car!

There is a lot to really like underneath, despite the neglect. It'll be a LOT easier to work on with a bike engine, this Toyota is JAMBED in

Forged everything in bottom end...
I love this angle. So much.
Unsure how I'm going to do the paint (the terrible yellow is basically falling off)....but I'd like to do it "original" for itself and restore to the tartan theme. It'll have to be DIY though
