Bend tubes, weld at tangents. Yes, I saw that part. Not a bad idea, lots of mitered joints turn into simply welding two tubes together where they touch. Something to file away in the "might be useful someday" pigeonhole.

But the nice idea part gets lost in the horror of what they built...

There are plenty of very well built Robin Hoods.

They suffer a 'horrible' reputation though, even though they put hundreds of people on the road for small financial output. The earlier ones using stock complete front suspension units and the sliding pillar models indeed were probably less than desireable, but the 2B tube models often came out very desireable (depending on the builder of course).

Then there was the "heavy and poor performance" claims, not sure how you can take a Ford Sierra, remove 1500lbs of weight and not go a lot faster, relative. On top of that, only a very small percentage actually drive hard or compete in motorsports, but sadly it's often the case that that a small percentage of that small percentage have a strong sway on opinions.

I beleive I herniated a disc in my lower back last Monday, couldn't walk for 4 days and just slowly getting around the house the last few days, and out for a short walk tonight, went well.

Hopefully back into it in the next few days, albeit carefully.

Over there can't they poke you full of pins and heal it right away?

I feel for you as I've watched my wife deal with herniated discs over the years. Her worst one took over 6 months to "heal". Best wishes on your recovery.

Ha, no, a tissue tear is a tear, you just have to wait til the tear heals over and your jelly builds back up. I am fortunate I generally heal quickly.

I stink of various alcohol and traditional herb oils to ease the pain, have the same type of stinky heat patches on, and wear my kidney belt for support around the house, but only time will heal it.

So 2 weeks lost to my back injury, but i wandered in for a few easy hours today to sort out the brake and clutch master cylinder mountings.

Some minor changes to be made, but getting close.

.. and for those who like sore left knees, swearing in traffic jams and uphill starts, a clutch.

I'll probably end up with a GM 3.6 V6 and auto eventually, or maybe a Lexus V8 and auto.

This is the first attempt, will have to re-do it tomorrow as I clearly made a measuring error with the Master cylinder mount, but the basic layout is going to work.

Well that's better.

The basics are all working now, make it look snazzy at a later date.

Note now one bracket to secure the clutch master, brake master, and steering column as one unit, as well as being happy to use all 3 components completely stock (1990s Toyota HiLux).

Obviously the brake and clutch are facing backwards, this allows a lot more room in the engine bay for V8 etc, and left or right hand drive uses the same setup.

Nicely done, Sir! I take back the slanderous remarks comparing you to Team Slotus.
