Great engine choice 8) When did Lucifer design the Mumford link Gizmo, I have never seen one. I am looking at it thinking its a permutation of a Watt`s linkage but my addled brain`s failing to digest how it works :? .

Welcome back. It's kinda funny you switched from a rotary to a v6, I did the same thing, but with a ford v6. I didn't get as far even buying an rx7 donor though. You've got a nice clean looking build going, hopefully you get it finished. That Honda v6 should be lots of fun in there.

I'm really fired up again to get this thing built.

I caved in and bought a 1990 Miata 2 1/2 years ago as a daily driver and autocrosser. That got me starting to work out problems on the Locost build in my head, but didn't really motivate me enough to do much physical work. This Miata/Honda kit was the catalyst I needed.

The 6 speed transmission is about an inch wider than the 5 speed that the tunnel was built for.

Still have to cut the floorboards up, not looking forward to that.

Thats going to be a very short prop for a car with a live axle, it may be worth considering cv joints on the prop rather than conventional uj`s.

The shaft will be in the 18" range between universals, and very little angle between transmission output and differential input, I don't think a CV will be necessary.

I once had a Willys Jeep CJ-5 that I ran in sand drags and mud bogs with 400+ HP. It had a driveshaft 13.25" between universals and about a 20 degree angle, it held up fine.

I really appreciate the feedback, I like to learn from other peoples experiences, suggestions, and lessons.

You're in Vail AZ? My daughter and her family live in a subdivision in Vail. They live on Placita Rocosa. Beautiful place to live. I'm in Phoenix and drive down to visit them every once and a while; let me know if you need anything brought down.

Subscribed to this one as well. Great engine choice. Wasn't aware of that combo.

Vail is a pretty large area. I'm a couple miles south of Colossal Cave down a dirt road out in the sticks.

Thanks for the offer, will keep it in mind.

I managed to get the engine out of the back of my truck this weekend, where it has been since I bought it. I needed some space and finally sold off my rotary engines and one transmission.

I decided to weigh some of my major components because accurate information is hard to come by, and I'm curious.

I posted some of these pictures in the engine weight thread as well.

2000 J32A1 from an Acura TL.

As pulled from the car, exhaust, a/c compressor, alternator, flexplate, wiring harness, but no p/s pump. 399.7 lbs.

Stripped of stuff not going into my build. 356.8 lbs.

2000 Mazda Miata 6 speed transmission that will also go in. 88.7 lbs.

Dana 35 7.5" 3.54 LSD from a Jeep Wrangler with newly added disc brakes from a junkyard Grand Cherokee. Everything except pads. 170.5 lbs.

Damn, already well over 600 lbs. in the drivetrain alone, good thing it will be over 200 whp, will need that to get it moving.

Also got the adapter parts from Mini Tech (Super Fast Miatas).

Don't forget to include those as part of the drivetrain weight.

I assume that engine has variable cam geometry so you should have no problem roasting those tires easily.
