Starting on the Turbo intercooler plumbing. Just fits under the bonnet. Reasonably short runs. At least shorter than the stock Chevy Cruze configuration for this motor.

Completed intercooler piping fit up. I used a VW1.8T intercooler and it fits nicely. Also planning on running NACA ducts with 3" flexable cooling duct directly to the intercooler using modified brake cooling fittings. Thanks to DaveStruve's slick idea.

The ducts look cool but you are going to get much if any airflow around a 360 degree bend. Tilting the inter-cooler upwards and have the pipes curving directly to it or change the mount design so the pipes are an 'S' shape would greatly improve air flow.

Looks like a familiar setup. He's right, flip the intercooler to remove the bends. This is the intercooler I used.

Set it up like this.

i can verify I dropped literally 100 degrees on intake temp.

I would have to go with a different intercooler. Things get tight retrofitting all the plumbing and there will be a trade-off. I think the airflow restriction with an extra 1 ft of air ducting was better than adding an extra 2 feet of intercooler pressure piping adding more volume and more potential lag for my little stock turbo unit to overcome. Twin 3" ducts with multiple bends should flow a significant amount of air as long as the ducting is not deformed in cross section and the exiting hot air from the intercooler has a place to go. I can always change it if I'm not getting enough cooling.

You might consider building a 3" deep plenum box to feed air to the intercooler (replacing those plastic parts marked R and L) and route your ducting from the NACA nostrils to the top or sides of the plenum. This could shorten the duct lengths, eliminate a couple of 90* bends and improve the airflow distribution across your current intercooler.

Think about running E85 or a little pre-turbo injection (many different liquid choices here) and you will not need an intercooler...

I have ran this way on many of my turbo street cars (daily driven in Florida heat). I havn't used an intercooler in a LONG time. And all my cars end up with a Turbo on them sooner or later.

Eventually E-85 tune with 42lb injectors. Right now, I just want to get it running on a regular race fuel tune to see if anything breaks.

I'd worry about the engine backfiring through the intake just once, exploding the intake tubing like a bomb.

Explain to me why....

Intercooler intake nostrils completed. Also started on the dash redo. Cold air intake solution. No passenger seat so no problem. I wear ear plugs when racing also.

No Nationals trip this year. See you in 2017? Good luck in 2016!
