I think the shocks are working great. All four a the stock rear shocks for a lotus 7. I bought them from Roverruth (BURNABY, BC, Canada) on eBay. They were new old stock. When I called her she had konis, spax, and other shocks as well. Sorry, do not have a phone, but you can get in touch with her via eBay.

ROTUS, now has color.
I have been working on the body panels and have finally gotten to paint the car. I painted the panels in the morning when the wind was not around. It was nice to have good weather to paint in, what a great winter it has been weather wise. The color hugger orange and is an inexpensive lacquer.

Thanks for Ruth's number, she has some great parts.

Here is a better photo of the pieces I have painted, and brought inside to wet sand before buffing.

Almost have MegaSquirt ready to go.
Everything is mounted, wired, and I all I have left if running the return fuel line.
I am very excited about the 2 barrel 50 mm TWM throttle body on a IDA intake manifold.

This should be a screamer!

Looking nice.

Are you running a wideband? If so which one? So far I am happy with the 14point7 I am running. I am still chasing gremlins in my CAS/ignition system. It is tough without a scope to check my signal integrity.

Make sure you run some edge protection where your wires pass down thru the aluminum panel. Otherwise you will soon be chasing shorts.

just read through the entire thread - WOW! Any plans to register the Rotus for street use in Wa? I'll have to swing by at the next BSCC event to check this out...I'm just starting my miata based locost and live nearby.

Worked this winter on several car projects and have not posted much.

Most of the body is painted and on, although will need repainting on the fenders.
New engine in it running Megasquirt. I had two great guys helping me get the MS going, and they were GREAT! Still need to work out a bug or two and do more tuning.

Have been to the races this spring and had a blast!

Now, I am on a STRONG learning curve working with and tuning the Megasquirt.

Your car looks great! Thanks for the motivation to hear mine "brap" for the first time soon.

My question for you is: What kind of radiator did you replace the old one with and does it seem to be adequate? From what I can tell it looks like a dual-pass eBay Civic radiator. I'm very curious as to whether or not it is enough cooling capacity.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

I was using an old Rx2 radiator that I had hanging around, but what I cut the nose cone it did not fit anymore. I thought I would try the eBay Honda special and I have to say it has amazed me. I really did not have much faith in it, but it has been great. I have had my car idle for more than an hour on a 70 degree day and it NEVER got hot. The oil temp went to 250 degrees but he water temp never rose and barely hit 200. When the fan comes on the temp drops fast.

Just Not Nerdy Enough

Well, it has been quite awhile since I have posted. I check out the forum frequently, but just have not posted.
Had the Megasquirt running pretty well and decided to take to a dyno and have it tuned. Kito Autosports in Seattle did wonders and after a couple minutes. The car was already running much better that I ever gotten it running. He did a good deal of tuning work and was working on the top end, when we burned out two resistors (and some other things). I did not have a flyback board and was running 4 low resistance injectors. Not a problem until the extended run at high RPM. So, the car came off the dyno.

I tried to fix the board and ended up burning up the pads under the two pieces. So I took the board to spitfireefi.com (who will fix your megasquirt if your thumbs are too big to solder). Vedran at spitfire EFI was GREAT and fixed the board (with the addition of jumper wires). Still could not get it working right and missed a race. The resistance of the new parts was slightly different from the old ones and so Kito’s tune would not work well. By this point, the Megasquirt was no longer fun. So I went old school and put my carb back on and re-jetted it to the new engine. Now my car runs great (and I can fix it too). I do not have to worry about pulse width modulation or increased resistance in injector wiring. I guess I am just not nerdy enough today to run megasquirt, maybe someday. Nonetheless, I am back to having fun and winning racers.

I have to overcome two problems with my driving. 1. Driving close to the edge with this car is tough since the edge is soooooo far past where I comfortable. After each autocross run I get out and I am just about trembling; yet I know the car can do more. 2. Laughing, when the car starts to slide, I laugh so hard it scares the coarse workers.

I have one race left in the season, then back to work on ROTUS projects.
Aluminum Front fenders
A better hood latching system
Re-paint (the cheap dupicolor lacquer is easy to work with but does not hold up to the sand blasting from the lack of front fenders).
Boot cover
Water and wind proof car cover (for trailering)

Last Race of the Season
Had a blast, won my class and the series for the year. What a great year, I learned so much. Below are a couple shots from the race, a shot of my new windshield, and my new fenders from fenders-n-more. Cannot wait to put them on!

Fenders look good, almost makes me wish I went with the round top ones. How much of a curve across the top is there? And how thick are they?

The curve on the top is about 3/16th of an inch and it is the .95 material (I think).

Congrats on the years finish

Those fenders look great. Just the right size, I think. Will you have room for the fender stays underneath?

What's with the "Back to a carb...." business? Did you give up on the MS or is the carb an interim fix as you get the board repaired?
