If that is a reverse rotation pump, you will want to turn the nut in the direction of rotation to loosen. So counter clockwise.

Thanks, finally got it off.

Visiting Speed Hut online this Friday as they are having a sale. Think that's the last big item to purchase before the car goes back together.

Well, its been over a year and I just thought I'd report that I've done absolutely nothing on the car. Here is a picture:

Happy New Year guys!

Alright, now that the break is over, lets see if I can get this on the road this summer.

Bubba said "I don't see no pitcher?" He also said "Get ta work!"
I'm sure he meant it in a kind and caring way...

Happy 2019!

Glad to see you back, even if you post invisible photos.

Sometimes you just have to say things out loud and publicly commit yourself. Now you have at least 2 people watching and waiting. :D

Cheers, and Happy New Year!

Good news to hear from you, I'm in with you.

It looks like a picture of snow to me, if I remember the time our living room windows got completely buried. Your avatar gives me faith you will deal with this situation.

Started at the nose of the car and working my way to the back, changing things I didn't like. The first major change was the brrackets for the LCAs. Went from this:

Someone was watching Project Binky, to this:

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

For those lucky guys who have posted in the "Completed" thread, what would you recommend, weld in the tunnel panels and then bear the pain when painting or paint first and then bear the pain of grinding, welding, and repainting. Or is this an area where aluminum with rivets is the obvious way to go?

Pretty sure I'm going to go the rivet route, but a few more posts in here never hurt anyone....

It's personal preference Josh, I welded and then painted the 3 I built, so far.

My tunnel is welded on the sides, open on the bottom, .050 aluminum bolted on top.

Just one of the many, many details you work out to suit you best.

I guess I should refine my answer a bit. I did as Larry did. .065" welded on the sides, open on the bottom, removable aluminum cover on top.

Not sure now the thickness of the steel on the tunnel sides. I was using some 16 and some 18 gauge. Think the tunnel and floors was the heavier. So is 16 gauge about the same as .0665 Perry?

And if Perry did it on 3 (so far) it can't be bad.

And I love the Topolino.

Yep, 16G flat sheet steel is .062" or 1/16"

I ran riveted aluminum sides with a vinyl covered wood top that was screwed down for easy access. Open bottom.
like everything else in these builds, the choices are endless.

Had it blasted on Friday and have since spent about 5 hours welding, grinding, flipping, and repeating. Hoping to prime it tomorrow before it rusts on me.
