According to Google Maps, from here to Holden is 2,545 miles. I'd be too tired to run by the time I got there, and most likely would have forgotten why I came... So you're pretty safe.

So, how the hell do you pronounce "Banff" anyway? I keep thinking about the "Jef-Fa-Fa" routine that Jeff Dunham does.
Ban-Fa-Fa, then???

Boy oh boy, you're asking a Ukrainian how to pronounce a word like Banff.
The way I pronounce it is most likely wrong anyway but it's like Banfuh, saying it all in one syllable.

JD, Henry would be right proud of you

If that's a new flat tappet cam idle is NOT your friend!
Need to get a radiator hooked up and "Run in" that cam.
Once that is done vary engine speed to seat the rings properly.
If I mention how soon I change oil after a build it would probably start an argument, so ask someone you trust about that.

Larry, thank you! That's pretty much how I feel about it too!

Perry, you mentioned the "Slotus Green" shirt in your text message... Purely coincidence, really. This may come as a surprise to y'all, but I have about a dozen green T-shirts.

Richard, thanks for your comments, and for stopping by. I know I need to "run in" the engine, but "First Start" and "Rev the Engine" didn't seem like a good pairing, ya know? Plus, like we said, no radiator... I just wanted to know ("I gots ta know!") that it would run before I got any further along. I had also had to do some repairs to the carb, so I was testing that as well. I'm a-gonna run it up and down the road in front of my house soon, try and terrorize those mules* next door!

*Actual, four-legged mules in the pasture next to my house, not making derogatory comments about my human neighbors.

Ahhh, thank you, Lonnie! I appreciate the thought. Truth is, however, it ain't really done and it remains to be seen how well it was done. But still, I appreciate the kind words and your support.

I was beginning to wonder if this rebuild was going to be a lifetime project. Congrats on putting fire to those 8 cylinders.

Tom, thanks for the congrats. Make sure that's GREEN rustoleum...
Chuck... Well, honestly... MEEE TOOO!!!

Ya know, guys, speaking of celebrating... And "putting fire to things"... An old friend of mine recently went on a vacation to Cuba. He brought back these little metal tubes with an honest-to-goodness miniature Havana Cee-Gar in each of them. He gave me one when I saw him a few weeks back. I told him I was gonna save it until that motor fired up and then it would be my "Victory Dance" like in "Independence Day."

I'd like to think I'm kinda like Will Smith or Jeff Goldblum, the heroes of the movie... But I know I'm more this guy...

So, this evening... Victory Dance! 8)
