Whoa :shock: :shock: :shock:
You are better man then me!
DJ, it's going to take a week to dry out both you and the car after that run.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your congrats and support! I appreciate you all...

@Perry-

Woo Hoo! Yipee! Hip Hip, and all that! BADA$$ Slotus runs again
Yeah, feels good to say it that way, doesn't it?!?!? I used to call the car "The World's Most Dangerous Slotus." I'm looking forward to regaining that status soon.

@Geek- I'd say it was "Sort of sorted" at best... The engine and driveline seemed OK. Way-back-when, the original task was to sort out the handling. I'm going to return to that, if I get to stop doing engine rebuilds for a while! :ack:

@ Lonnie and DaveW-

You weren't kidding about that bow wave. You're much braver than I am.

There's a thin line between brave and stupid. I'm pretty sure I trampled all over it... :mrgreen: Besides, it was an autocross event, speeds were low enough to feel non-threatening. Although I did have a "moment" or two when sliding or blind... Or sliding AND blind... :shock:

@DaveW- "DJ"??? Dyslexia much? :rofl: It's OK, I get confused myself sometimes... :mrgreen:

@MangPong-
Quote:
Did the starter ask what the Dickens you thought you were trying to prove...?
And I said, in my best English street urchin accent, "Can I have some moah, Suh?"
Quote:
"the entire car hydroplaned" - and you tried to accelerate...!!???
Well, you know... When in doubt, gas it! It'll solve the problem or end the suspense. It didn't turn, so I tickled the throttle to get the car to rotate. It sort of worked... Sort of.. OK, reality is I have no idea how I got around that corner... :mrgreen:

Gentlemen, again, thank you all. I'm not gonna say I couldn't do it without you (That's TWWTFM's job!) but it certainly wouldn't be as much fun without this group. And remember:

So stay tuned, come back any time, we're gonna be up to something soon. I don't know what, so it'll be a surprise to all of us! :mrgreen:

Peace, Love and "Yep, that's a bow wave" -
JDK

Congratulations on a successful day out. One that didn't end in having to rebuild something. :cheers:

JD,
If that is the weather pattern you will be racing in you might want to add some positive floatation of some type. Won't help you go any faster but might save you from drowning

It varies, but yeah usually the weekend closest. I'm not in charge of anything in Dixie Region any more, so I don't know how/why dates are picked. Usually it's when the site is available.

You should 1) Rent a Mustang, 2) Drive up for A-vs-A, 3) Compete in the rental car, 4) Return it with the tires all chewed up, 5) Complain to the rental company about bad alignment and cheap tires!

Hmmm, like instead of "pontoon fenders" maybe some actual pontoons? Or maybe like this--

Got those boys from Cuba to Key West, oughta work for me!

Or maybe I should just act like I got some sense and come in out of the rain??? Nahhh... :mrgreen:

Isn't your bodywork already made of foam and fiberglass? Might keep you afloat. Good to see it was a success and you didn't break anything. I guess that's saying the same thing twice though. I remember getting caught in a rainstorm like that with my locost one of the first times I drove it on the street legally. It was a nice morning, so I drove it to work, but the skies opened up in the afternoon for the trip home. I was on a corded set of r888's which aren't the best wet weather tires, and just driving on the street was interesting. The water would spray off the left front tire straight into my armpit, lots of fun. By the time I got home the only dry part of the car was the driver seat. I didn't care though, I was just overjoyed at being able to drive it to work finally.
