Or if you want new parts sign up with mazadamotorsport.com (just tell them you are going to autocross it when done)

The cheapest option would be to call steve at Panicmotorsports.com.

Welcome to the gang!

I think I have the combination switch sitting in my garage, and I don't plan on using it for my build. I'd have to go look for sure, since there are a heck of a lot of spare parts still around. If you don't hear from me in a week or so, shoot me a PM to remind me.

Just a quick update to bump this thread back into the Land of the Living!

After looking at various Locost/Lotus/Caterham/Westfield frame configurations and body styles, I have settled on building something close to the Caterham Roadsport SV. 90.75" wheelbase, 56.93" front and rear track, 66.34" wide, 136.22 long. I bought an SV nosecone and S3/SV/CSR rear wings from Caterham USA which should be arriving some time in late September. Also, many thanks to Skip Cannon for taking the time to measure his Miata 1.8 Turbo Caterham Seven SV (http://www.britishv8.org/Other/SkipCannon.htm).

The Miata is completely stripped at this point. For those of you debating cutting the body up yourself or having someone haul it off in one piece, I strongly suggest the former. It's very therapeutic. I think I went a little overboard though, hacking it down to 24 bite-size pieces! All on a single Irwin Marathon 9" 10 TPI Demolition Blade for $2.67 at Lowe's.

I also picked up a 280mm Momo Team steering wheel and a NB vehicle speed sensor to convert the NA transmission to an electrical speedometer from Panic Motorsports. Thanks Chet for the lead.

Hopefully, I'll have enough parts soon to actually start building something. That and get all of the other projects out of the way...right now the kids' swing set/fort is top of the list.

Can someone with a 94-95 Miata 1.8 L tell me if this collision damage?

The throttle linkage on the throttle body looks like it is bent inward, specifically the roller guide plate. This is the corner of the car which had all of the collision damage. Or is it supposed to look like this?

Thanks!

Yes, it is bent. Slip an adjustable wrench over the top of the bent section, with a second adjustble wrench to rotate the first. It bends easily.

Well, three months later and the nose cone and rear fenders finally arrived from the UK! It's like X-Mas morning! :D They are of very high quality and look great IMHO.

I also picked up some black 15 x 6.5 Konig Feathers and Falken 195/50R15 Ziex ZE-912 tires. I couldn't resist getting a set of aluminum valve stems from 949 Racing while I was at it. I'll have to do something about those ugly center caps though. Maybe some black and chrome Lotus badges off of an Exige?

+1. I love those wheels - I would've gone w/ the exact same ones, but I was looking for a 15x7"

Design of the frame is creeping along now that I have the Caterham nose cone and rear fenders measured. Most of the outside dimensions are set. Next step is to lay in the Miata bits and figure out the internal tube layout.

Made some progress over the weekend. The rear bulkhead location is fixed. Looks like the Miata IRS will fit nicely with the spindles reversed and the coil-overs front mounted.

A few internal tubes added, the front spindles added and the Falken 195/50R15 tires modeled.

Those tires look awesome! Is that tread measured, or just eyeballed and sketched out? I'm totally impressed with the design work that's going on here.

Thanks Matt. I roughly measured the tread widths and sketched in the pattern. The only accurate dimensions are OD and section width.

Added a book transmission tunnel. This is just a place holder until I can get the transmission measured more accurately. The rear bulkhead tubes will change as well once I figure out the rear end arrangement. Also added more cross bracing in the engine bay.

Time for bed....
