Thanks Matt. I roughly measured the tread widths and sketched in the pattern. The only accurate dimensions are OD and section width.
One thing you might need when you start noodling on suspension is the static loaded radius of the tire. It takes a fairly large fraction of an inch off the unloaded radius of the tire and that'll affect your ride height and whatnot.

Agreed. I ignored that at first, figuring that since our cars are so light, how much could it matter? It was a bit embarrassed to realize the tires deflect by at least half an inch even with a light Locost sitting on them.

Good point. I looked at that and decided not to bother trying to model it in the solid model. 22mm +/-1.5% at maximum load according to Falken's European specifications. I am assuming half of that due to the lower GVW. That should take my static ride height down to about 5.5 inches.

Finished off the build table today. 3/4" MDF 4' x 8' above. 19/32" plywood sheeting below. 20 gauge 2" x 4" steel studs in between screwed together with #8 x 1/2" fine self-drilling screws and with all of the webs joined.

Well done. That's one HD build platform!

Some folks draw the outline on their table. I used 1" wide blue tape.

Also, some 1/4 round molding pieces tacked down at the perimeter helped to keep things from centered.

Go Get'em!

I am designing my own chassis. It will be based heavily on the Caterham SV and CSR layouts from the rear bulkhead forward and on the Westfield SDV from the rear bulkhead rearward.

Picked up a few more parts. A '96-'97 throttle body with a shorter throttle adjuster to resolve some clearance issues with the nose cone and an '01-'05 oil pan and MBSP which I came across for a great price.

I found some great looking seats, but unfortnately they are TOO SMALL! They only seem to fit the two enanos that live above the garage. Vroom, vroom!

I borrowed a friend's table saw over the weekend, ripping 1" x 8' square dowels to mock-up parts of the chassis in full scale before cutting steel. My biggest concern is the taper of the front end and how well the nose cone fits. I'll also be mocking-up the transmission tunnel and foot wells.

The basic layout of the rear end is progressing. The differential will be supported from above using removable brackets à la Westfield. The control arm lengths and pick-up points still need to be tweaked based on some more work in Wishbone.

I'm liking the look of your build! Having recently sampled an SV, I have been pondering similar ideas for my build (when I get there) so I may end up bugging you a lot down the line. You say the nosecone and arches were more expensive, but how much more. Care to share a ballpark price? :)

Will you be attaching the light green frame work to anywhere else?

Three points on each side: (1) upper shock mount and (2) upper control arm pick-up points.

Definitely not Locost...

(2) Rear Wings: $194.88 each
(1) SV Nose Cone: $285.60
(1) Freight FedEx, Denver to Boise: $150.48
