Nicely done, Sean! I'm glad you got and are able to get it running.

Thanks Sven! Just working out the bugs now. They did a good job on the tune. I got rid of the OEM wiring and went with a Microsquirt. 1 step colder plugs, 420 CC injectors etc.. to make sure the turbo stays happy. I think somewhere around 200 whp and 200 tq will be nice. She is at 164 whp and 158 tq now

Looking good. Mind sharing a few photos of the radiator and intercooler. Considering boosting mine and want to see what the setup looks like.

Black on white looks really good.

I don't know why no one's yet placed the turbo entirely outboard the engine compartment of a Locost. It would look cool, save engine bay space, but most importantly, get the hottest part of the car outside into the breeze.

Like how Leno did it on his Tank Car:

Why didn't you? Probably the same reason no one else has either.

While I think it would look kinda cool I wonder what would happen in a rainstorm or someone throwing up a wave of water from a puddle?

A few people have done it. I don't have any pictures saved but its been done. I saw a MK Indy a few weeks ago with that setup. It was a RHD BEC and the turbo was outside of the body on the left side.

I think it largely depends on your taste and the styling of the rest of the car.

Would "cooling" the turbo have any impact on performance? Isn't the goal to keep as much energy in the exhaust as possible?

The same reason no other mid-engine builder has either? I can't speak for them.

Hey Fellas,

Sorry for the late reply. I honestly wasn't sure if anyone was still checking out this build thread. Now that I know you guys are, I'll make sure to update it more frequently.

I had to tighten down the diff a bit more by using threadlocker and nylon nuts. 1st drive the differential kinda came loose and I thought I blew the diff. Only thing really missing now is installing the rear view mirrors which is simple. Only big thing left is adjusting the suspension which I am not sure on how to do. I'm familiar with the simple lowering, camber etc.. on sports cars but this is a lot more complicated to me. It's still 100 degree daily here in AZ so the project hasn't been getting much attention but she drives and starts.

Getting the intercooler to fit was no easy task. It would've been easier to just have it sitting in front of the radiator but we didn't want it taking up all the cold air so...

When I first picked her up I wanted to LS twin turbo the MK and have both turbos outside on the side lol Seriously!! All my friends told me to chill out and keep the Miata motor as it's already in there.

Very cool. I agree that white and black looks great. Looked at a new race car today that was white and black.

I put 30,000 miles on a turbocharged bike with the turbo mounted below the swingarm pivot. It got plenty wet in the rain.

Once everything is all said and done. Hopefully putting some time in this weekend. I'm looking to go Laguna Seca Blue and black.
