there is a 1" ally box section along the inside of the hood edge, there are 4 upstanding bolts through the chassis with holes in and the pins just push through

got new falken 205 50 16 tires on today,

we're getting close now just waiting for a call from dunne-rite to say if they can re-program the ecm for no pats, the speedo recalibration and a better than stock tune.

so after waiting for two weeks for dunne-rite to call and say they can process the ecm, i have given up on them,
i e-mailed them today at 11.22 am and they replied at 10.03 am to say they could do it, funny that, replying to my e-mail almost an hour and a half before i sent it! perhaps its a time zone difference, but i am on california time so unless dunne-rite are somewhere in the pacific ocean, they obviously don't know what time it is.

loaded the car on a trailer and taking it to the locksmith to have a key made tomorrow,

i will purchase a true speed pulse modifier to correct the speedo.

that way, i don't need no stinking dunne-rite.

$80.00 later, i have a pats key incoded,

does the engine start? YES!!!

but it wouldn't idle for SH--

i removed the idle air control and tested it ,it's o.k.

then i look in the manifold where the iac goes and what do you know, there's a hole into the iac but nothing out, so i drill a hole and all is well.

the first drive?

there is not enough lock to the steering so i took the rack apart and adjusted the lock stops, now i have 2 turns lock to lock and a tighter turning circle.

the throttle pedal is too far up so i took it apart and modified it so it's an inch lower which is o.k.

the clutch pedal seems to need more on the diameter of the master cylinder as it goes down a long way before disengaging.

who was the stupid f!!! who didn't put a hose clamp on a hose at the back of the engine? answer, i am!

the starter one way clutch was sticking so it wouldn't engage so i took that apart and lubed it, now thats o.k.

i have a code, p2004 which says intake manifold control stuck open, this is going to be a hard nut to crack, the manifold has a set of throttle plates which open and close, the vacuum actuator work cos i put vacuum to it and its new anyway, when i applied the vacuum and held it there the code was not set so thats where the problem is in the vacuum source. the vacuum source is through the manifold control solenoid so i test it, and it works o.k.
i checked the vacuum hoses they are o.k. so why doesn't it work? i test the plug to the solenoid and we have power and ground on start up, but it goes away after a few seconds, now iv'e been at this car fixing game a long time so when it's the ground that goes away, it's at the request of the pcm.

question, if the pcm requests of for the solenoid "off", why does it say there is a fault?

oh and by the way, IT GOES LIKE A ROCKET!!!!!!

so code p2004 intake manifold control stuck open.

did the tests, 5 volts of power correct,

ground, correct,

pin out the sensing wire to pcm, continuity corect,

test voltage fluctuation to pcm, no fluctuation when operated! voltage remains the same,

on studying the componants, there is a plug on the top of the manifold, just by the throttle body which is on the intake manifold sensing monitor, which you would think is to monitor the intake manifold position,

WRONG!!!

under the manifold, on the actuator there is an identical plug, it's hard to find but it's there, i pluged the wire into that plug and all seems well, no codes set, YET!!!

Congratulations on the running car John.

Ford seems to like using the same connector for multiple things for whatever reason. I had similar bouts of confusion with the 2.0. :BH:

the fault is in the pcm and i've just paid to have keys coded so i am going to have to live with the check light,

there is no smog check in this part of the state.
