What is that yellow (plastic?) stuff you're putting on the steel? Is that to keep the fiberglass resin from sticking?

I have a complicated glassing project coming up, so it's on my mind.

Polyimide tape (kapton) is expensive, polypropylene packing tape will do the same job at a lower cost in my experience, however would recommend trials on a small test patch first. Not much sticks to polypropylene.

Yep, I had it and it works great but $$$.

Started doing the aluminon that I have been putting off.
Was not sure I was up to the task ?

I put together the English Wheel and did a test. The HF did a good job with their wheel.
Price was right.

Think I will be OK with the other side ? We will see.

After the test I jumped into the deep end .

Came out just fine.
The 40" panel is a little hard to hold but its OK !
Need to work on the finishing ? Must need more wheeling ?

The hard part was putting the flange on it.
Used my bead roller for that. (I look at way to many YouTube videos. )

The inside panel was fun.
Its for the exhaust cut out.

Will start on the end plates next.

Been working but mostly in revers .


Its a lot harder than it looks.

Not sure if I will keep the 90 Deg. bend or try a different way ?
Don't like the way it looks.

Also found if everything was mounted it would be very hard to install the V band clamp
on the exhaust pipe.
So I will need to open up the hole.

But getting their.

Is there a way to put a downward kick on the front 2:1 collector to take some of the height difference out so that the 90 degree bend is lessened or not required?

The header was built to a Computer spec.
The two 90's are for sound control ,so I'm told. We will see.

Anybody need some scrap >

The first of the new parts.
Taking it slow.
The 1/4 round part will need to be welded to the lower inside panel.
Had to weld the botton panel on, because "I CUT OFF " ! Need to do more thinking.

Been doing some 1/16" Alum. welding. I will get their.

Are you guy's bonding your Aluminon panels to your frame and what did you use ?
Was thinking about 3M panel glue ?

I've used the 3M panel adhesive with a nice row of pop rivets. Think it was a two-part adhesive and chose one with a longish setting time to give more positioning/mounting time. Happy with the results.
