Since the tbird irs is so popular and I have both the 7.5 and 8.8 sitting here, I'm sure a lot of folks would appreciate a side by side comparison. I didn't check to see if this is a 28 spline or 31 spline 8.8 diff. Both iron and both open.
The 7.5 is narrower at the inner cv cups, which are larger on this 8.8.
The 8.8 is 90 lbs.
The 7.5 is 80 lbs.
The 8.8 needs an extra 1/2 inch of clearance above the diff and hangs below the axle a lot more, where some run their exhaust so ground clearance is less.
The pinion flanges were the same.
If anyone wants a specific measurement, now would be a good time to ask.
Thank you for taking the time to do a side-by-side comparison on these
.. I used the 7.5 in my last 2 builds, but I never took the time to weigh it.. 80 lbs is more than I would have thought!.. A nice piece that gets the job done, but a husky little guy.. the 8.8 even more so..
