It's been a while since I've updated the build log, so here goes.... I've been plugging away at building a dash for the car, and I've always been partial to the earlier Europa S1 dashboard. So here's what I've done, I started with a sheet of plywood and cut away all the bits that didn't look like a Lotus dashboard along with bit of fiberglass that didn't let the dash sit where I wanted.
Then glued the various bits together and fitted it to the car to make the dash top out of expanding foam:
I carved it to shape then laid fiberglass over it. It didn't work, most likely because its a bit too cold for curing. So I decided to make it out of wood an aluminium, which turned out quite well.
All that's left to on it is to sand the front rail of the dash top and cover in vinyl. My garage helper seems to think it looks good:
I have no idea who's cat it is, but it seems to arrive within minutes of opening the garage doors.
I've also been doing some mechanical and bodywork when I'm not working on this:
On the bodywork side, I've now filled and primed the front cover, and on the mechanical side I've fabricated an intake bananafold.
The carbs are off a Honda CBR900, I'm sure I'll be kicking myself when it comes to tuning them, but they sure make the motor look racy.
