I'm wondering what price people on this forum would think is a fair price. I want to keep the price reasonable and at a point that would discourage others from making copies of it. All of the work is in the plug. :)

The fiberglass shop tells me that they can mold the body in Gel Coat colors and be able to buff and polish it so that painting wouldn't be required. I think this is a good option.

Well this is the Locost forum so I bid $1.

I'd be willing to double the last guys bid!

But seriously, While I'm no expert in these affairs, I'd expect to see a chopper-gun layup $4 to $5k and a lightweight hand layup, 1.5x that. But you probably know better than us. I very much like the idea of buying the body with plans.

I think that the dimensions are very close to a 442, perhaps with altering the wheel offset a bit.

Out of curiosity, how does the sizing and layout match up to a plus 4 locost chassis?

If memory serves me (at my age, that's a shot in the dark), a plus 4 is 46 inches!

im hoping that I can market a body in colored gel coat for 4K. I won't be able to set a firm price until we actually pull a body. Fingers crossed.

I've never understood why the Cheetahs were considered a flawed design. I love the looks, and the gripes seem fixable, you seem to be addressing all of them:

-Hot cockpit: move the engine forward and insulate the headers/firewall
-Front end lift: move the engine forward and if you're racing, add a chin spoiler
-Tight footwell: move the engine forward
-Harsh ride: add IRS.

The Cheetah's main issue was not enough chassis stiffness. They would flex a lot on-throttle which gets hairy when it unwinds while entering braking. The secondary issue was the unreliability of the mechanical fuel injection. They did have IRS btw.

Cheers.

I think my frame is much stiffer than the original Cheetah. And the C4 suspension is an upgrade over the C3.

Compare what you have to this and see if you can tell which one would be stiffer.

Your frame is not an original Cheetah frame. It's a heavily modified version and fitted with a full roll cage. I was comparing mine to an original one.

It's been quite awhile since I've had progress to report. Final body work has just started on the bonnet. It is suppose to be finished by August 1st. Then it's off to the fiberglass shop for mold making. I use to do this work myself but continuing health issues have me farming this out.

Of course it’s not an original, it’s a Winslow copy, but fairly true to the originals. I just put up the picture to show the lack of tubing in the engine/transmission area and also, just how little triangulation there is in the middle section of the frame. No comparison to your chassis which has an actual tunnel and probably 3x’s as much tubing in its construction.

My friend and I finished the body prep yesterday. It's now ready to pull molds from. (The seam between the tub and flip up front has been left larger than it will be when I build the car.)
Side pipes will fill the area below the body tub.
