My name is John and I have been a street rodder for 50 years. That tells you i'm OLD! I have been lurking here for several years and finally have something you guys might like. I've been a fan of front engine dragsters since I worked on one as crew in the '70's.
My new effort will be a fiberglass '23 Ford with a blown 454 Chevy. In T bucket circles that isn't that unusual but mine will be quite a bit longer than the normal bucket. the final wheelbase will be about 160" (almost twice the "normal" bucket). Let me know if you think a project will fit in this forum. thanks for looking.

I guess for dragsters we make people ask twice. Please don't hold that against us!

Yes I guess it is a little strange to enter with a motor this big with all the 4 cylinder motors but I will try to concentrate on fab stuff. Didn’t mean to be impatient but I’m excited to join.
I have a few mock-up pictures to give a little preview of what I’m thinking.

I think we're all running 4-link rear ends so maybe that will be something in common too?

The white tubes is a pvc mock-up of the frame forward of the firewall. The real tubes will be 1 1/2”, 1” and 3/4” dom tube. I is 96” and the wheelbase will be around 160”.

I, too, have a history with Street Rods, but as I'm getting older I'm getting more fickle, and I've been dipping my toes into some of 'off the beaten path' projects, which ultimately led me to join this sight a few years back.. I've learned a ton from the members here, and I really enjoy and appreciate the 'can-do' attitude when the group is trying to solve an issue for someone-- super helpful group here..

But I was looking at your PVC mock up frame. Don't folks usually run the diagonals so they kind of zig-zag down the frame? I mean so that the first one is (for example) down at the front and up at the rear then the second one is up at the front and down at the rear and so on... Yours are all at the same up in the front angle. Maybe it doesn't make a difference, but it looked a bit odd to me.

Both styles are done. You get a little softer chassis the way I have it. The diagonals are in compression so you are not pulling the welds apart so it seems better to me. I have a torsion bar for front suspension.

What part of the world do you call 'Home', John. Some of the guys might like to swing by and lend a hand!

Yeah, the profile function has been pretty glitchy for a while now. The tech guys haven't been able to track down the gremlins yet, but they're trying!

I would love to be able to make that but I don’t think I’ll be driving by then. Spirit Cars is in Flippin by Mtn. Home. That may be a good place to Cruze to for the Sevens. Bob Custer (BC) is old school cool and is very accodateing.
Oh I checked and you are 6 1/2 hours from me so a vacuum sit to help is not likely! Lol

Just to provide a hint of my affection for outlandish builds.
Long ago I tried to buy a retired engineless Rail from a guy who had it in his attic.
He would not sell, but did make it into a BARBECUE PIT!
Grill set where the engine belonged.

MY hope had been to put a mild engine into it, rig some lights and cooling, get temporary registration, then make just one or maybe two LEGAL passes past the local PD who were so into hassling the kids out cruising.

For what you are doing my question becomes, where is the second engine?
Seems you should have room, and it's been done before so can be done again.
