So..
Friday I get a called from department of labour, "We're at your shop, here to inspect and license a pressure vessel".." okay, tell me more" I like to ask qualifying questions.
So in nova Scotia, and many other provinces, a permit/license is required for pressure vessels, ( my compressor) and rightly so. Imagine if one of your friends or family was injured by a ruptured pressure vessel, you'd be asking questions!.. we hear all too often of industrial accidents were someone wasn't so fortunate because of neglect or lack of maintenance. As my business bought it, a paper trail was started. You dont need to comply if it's a personal item, and if you buy a compressor, from princess auto, it wont have a CRN number which is its designs destructive testing certificate.. so, if your a business, don't buy a compressor without a CRN number, or it will be a paper weight, according to Ns dept of labour.
Anyways, the inspection was done this morning, the guy originally was pretty firm/dry like you'd expect from an inspector, but he lightened up quite a bit after he saw the install and my condensate separator. The condensate from the tank contains both water and oil from carry over. The separator, floats the discharge in two chambers, oil absorbant matt absorbs oil, water flows underneath and is discharged out into a water jug. This may seem excessive, but it is law in other jurisdictions, and potentially here. Anyways, 125.00 for 5 years is not a deal breaker, and solidifies the system as a legitimate business expense and tax write off!..
Otherwise, painted the side pods this morning. Minor sanding was required, same process for paint. Still tweaking my princess auto hvlp gun. Lots of junk under the paint, like hairs, dust, and other contaminants.... it's a dirty dusty garage. I'm sure I'll make a project out of a better paint job some day, but that's after its road legal.
Here's some pics.
