Thanks for the kudo's!

Perry, the big concern is that when you traveled south last year, you discovered this project! What will you find this year?
Ha ha ha, wifey gonna make sure that's not happening!

So I made a first attempt at doing some upholstery work. The Gazelle utilizes padded pieces on the dash, doors, and aft of doors. I took the dash pad, stripped off the red vinyl which some previous person applied to the fiberglass padded piece, and shook my head. It was applied with contact cement, hot glue, and some brown stuff (made sure to wash my hands, lol).

I see that the biggest problem the previous person had was to get the adhesive to stick to the fiberglass because they did not sand the wax off.

Sanded the piece, cut some black vinyl, used brushed on contact cement and mini clamps, and a couple hours later and sore fingers I gots me a black vinyl dash pad. Couple of pics.

Now I'm done til next spring.

Luck of the draw...........

Just before heading south I took my 2 fiberglass bucket seats along with my 5yd roll of black vinyl to my upholstery guy so that he has all winter to cover the seats. Gave him a $500 deposit as he needed to buy foam for the seats.

Get a call last week from a guy, asks if I have a couple of bucket seats for upholstery. Says my upholstery guy passed on couple days back and he is trying to find who has their stuff in his shop. He sees the buckets, no roll of black vinyl though, no foam. Ask him about the $500 deposit, he says he has no part of that, sorry. Got a friend of mine to go get the buckets.

Out $700.........Luck of the draw I guess

Check them for damage. I'm sure one of them was kicked.

High density foam is very expensive. That was probably for one full sheet, shipped.

Good foam can be found in yoga mats. They may even throw in a head band to keep your hair out of your face while yogling.

Geez, if I did that I'd have to pull out my LuLu Lemons, and those show all my curves and bulges  whilst driving the car.

Perry,

I dunno, you may have been around Palm Springs a little too much now. LuLu Lemons, indeed.

Sorry about the $700 though. That's tough.

Cheers,

This pic was taken a few years ago in north Edmonton, Alberta. That's my dad standing in front of a snowman. If you're gonna build em, build em big, lol.

So, who helped him? Was that a family project?

Are you going to make a giant sand man this Christmas [LOL].

Cheers,

Cheers,
Hey Lonnie, the pic is around 15 years old, my dad was driving past this house, seen the giant snowman, stopped and got a pic with it. No idea how it was built, but it is impressive.

I think it would take all the snow Houston got last time, to get a snowman that size built...

Ha Ha Ha, usually here in sunny Alberta that would be 1 days snowfall. This fall/winter we have had hardly any snow to date, the ground is covered somewhat but not nearly as much as it should be.

To everyone here have a great holiday season with you and yours!

Always enjoy your posts Perry!

It is interesting, lately I have seen several uncompleted Gazelle kit for sale of Marketplace in the mid-west. Some configed for front end motors, some for VW.

Can hardly wait till your back home and on it again for the next progress report.

Thanks Thom, another 3 months til I'm back in the shop!

Wishing all fellow Locosters all the best in the upcoming New Year.
The way I look at it I will have another year to do what I didn't get done this year

Went to a Car’s & Coffee this morning and saw this fine example of a Gazelle. I can't say I've ever seen one in person before. Cool car,

Phew! I thought for a second that was yours completed and was about to congratulate you for being able to finish your project even when you are in another state. That would have been very impressive! Nice car.
