I moved the steering column back toward the driver by 2.25inchs and raised it about an inch to make it more comfortable. Still trying to figure out what to do with the front roll bar. I am just trying to figure out how to have a cage mounted windshield and a removable scuttle. Evo |

I've been working on mounting the fuel tank in the front of the car. I wanted a firewall to go around the tank which has caused some problems to solve. It's easy to build a box around the tank but I also have to contend with fuel lines coming out of the box. So I have a two part box that will allow the fuel lines to exit through one wall of the box so I don't have to try to connect them to the cover. In other words this will make this half way serviceable.   Evo |

Nice work! Is there any chance that I can get the dimension from the centerline of the rear wheels to the forwardmost extension of the engine (probably the head or headers). I'd like to know if a similar setup would work in something that I'm building. |

A few more updates. I got around to shortening the car. The wheel base is now 105" the previous pictures showed a 115" wheels base. Here is how it looks now:  Next I got some intellitronix gauges and made a Belsen for the OK. I need to take a photo of it in the car but over all I like the look.  Next I mounted the mirrors no pics and I started on the conversion to a manual trans. I modified the auto brake pedal and I'll be using a moded s2000 clutch pedal converted to a reverse swing. I also lower the brake booster to fit in the body better. I plan on using a 88-89 tercel or celic gear shift lever assemby as that is what the gt40 guys use. I'm debating on what trans to use. The older a32 96-00 Maxima'shave a 5 speed rod shift transmission. The 03+ A33 has a 6 speed cable shift. I can get a complete a32 maxima for less than $1000. The a33s go for around $2500 but I can snag the Vq35 as well and swap both. The vq35 has about 60 more hp over the vq30 I currently have. I still have to use the vq30 ecu to make it work due to the nats system. If I use the nats ecu I have to swap the bcm as well and that sounds like a good way to get an aneurism. Evo |

I got my guage pod labeled. I found it was going to be difficult to engrave it so I punched the letters. I used a steel guide however it's not perfect. The letter punches them selves are not centered so they are a bit uneven. I made a mistake on one set of them but over all I'm pretty happy.  Next is to wire each light and then bolt the assembly together. Not pictured I have been working on more of the wiring. I moved the engine bay fuse boxes to the front. There are only about 16 wires that need to go to the engine bay and the rest go up front for lights and horns etc. Progress is still happening. We are about to have our third boy in Nov so I can expect this project will drag on for many more years to come. Evo |

Evo On second look I don't really like the "serial killer" font of the stamped letters. I have a labels printer, but I'm not sure how well the labels will stick. I'll attempt to sand out the stampings and try again. Ugh.... evo |

 I sanded off the stamped lettering and printed new labels. I then put a coat of uv-resistant clear to seal the labels in. Looks much better and is easily changed. Evo |

You need a light or a switch or something that's labeled "Ejection Seat" or "Missile Launch" placed in front of the passenger seat.

I got all of my lights in my gauage pod. I ordered black cap bolts to replaced the stainless ones in it now. Overall I'm happy with the way it looks. I have been doing a massive amount of wiring, moving all of the relays to the front of the car and leaving only the engine look going to the back of the car. Progress is progress.   Evo |

Hey Evo, I keep watching for your build because you are just fearless in making major changes to achieve your vision. That and we are both doing v6 middies. Great to see more progress. The new proportions are fabulous. This car is going to be very special. |

It's easy to make major changes when I don't really have a planned date on completion just a picture in my mind of what it should be when it's done. At the end of the day I need to love it when I'm done. We just welcomed our third boy into our family on 11/7. I'm off on fmla for 10 weeks and find at least while the older boys are in preschool I can sneak into the garage for a few hours a week. I powered up my gauges and this is what I got.  Overall I am very pleased. Just need to wire up all the dummy lights. For the price I am very happy with the guage cluster, just took me all year to build it. Evo |

With the addition of another little boy money and time are tight so I have to get creative at times. I decided to make my own heater using a radiator fan and the donor heater core. It will be mounted in the passenger side footwell. It's a very simple design and best of all I didn't have to buy anything to make it. It should push some air pretty well. I used the donor resistors do it has three speeds. Next is plumbing and a bypass valve for when I don't want heat.
