Yeah, Mike, you're probably right... A big frill neck damn near ran me off the front porch yesterday evening... I think I was invading HIS turf!

Uhhh... Nocones, what would one use as an example of "Road Apples" up there? Too far south for Polar Bears or Moose... Too far north for Gators or Coyotes... (Or armadillos, which seem to be born squashed flat beside the highway. :ack: ) Inquiring minds need to know. 8)

(Another fine example of the wondrous cultural exchange brought to you by LocostUSA!!!)

Mr Gonzy the last time i called SWMBO a big frill neck.. she almost took my head off with a golf club ..and i wasnt even on the porch...Man you guys have some dangerous critters roaming around..sorry for hojacking the thread

From what I recall, it's pretty impressive that you are managing to fit the exhaust down the inside of the tunnel.

I like the yellow control arms as well.

If I understand you correctly I reamed all the rear uprights to accept 1/2 bolts. I think stock was 12mm shaft so minimal teaming had to be done. The funky bushing was replaced with a solid piece I made and then an adapter was made to allow me to use a 7" long bolt for both lower heim joints.

That's what I was looking for- thanks!

Unfortnately not much has happened on the car. I've assembled some more parts to it but it's languishing away on jackstands with some drywall leaned against it (It's achieve Shelf status! OH NO!!).
My focus has had to move to working on getting some home repair projects done in preperation for baby #2 in October. I have a pretty long list that when it gets done I can get back on the car.

However that said my wife has also gotten sick of parking in the driveway and I agree. We have spent some time discussing and agreed that my new garage/shop needs to come sooner than later.

I've attached a very Quickly generated plann of what I'm wanting to do. I made this in about an Hour on Pro/e so it's not some wonderful Car9 esq. Rendering. :D Some of the dimensioning is a little sloppy but I've used it to comunicate what I want to contractors with good success.

We've gotten the money set asside and I will probaby be having a contractor put up the weather tight shell with bare stud walls that I will electrify, insulate, and finish the interior on.

Basic size will be 990 sq. ft with a 28x20 section with Room in attic trusses with a 20x20 section off the back with Scissor trusses and a Lift. In the budget is buying some of the fabrication equipment I've been wanting (Tig welder, Plasma, tube bender, Possible used Mill and Lathe).

I would love to build it myself but would love more to have it completed before my kids turn 20 so I think I'm contracting it out.

Anyway not really a car update but just a little whats up, why isn't there a car update kinda think.

That is so sweet of you! I can just picture it: "Hon, I'm so concerned about you having to walk to the car in all sorts of bad weather. Winter's coming on before you know it and I think we'd better get a small shop built so you can use the garage."

It might sound funny but it is true. I used to work in the garage under our house until I built a garage at the end of our driveway 12 years ago. We'd been married about 20 years and neither of us had ever parked our normal cars inside before. When I built my garage she got to park inside in HER garage. You bet that was big. Not only did she get to park in the nice dry garage but she had all this extra space to put stuff. And even better, all of my noise, welding smoke, paint fumes and grinding dust went someplace else (not the next county like she wanted, but someplace else). Biggest problem was that I built such a nice garage that she is after me to make HERs nice too.

I am wondering if you could give me some advice..Fantastic Build by the way..you mentioned larger door gaps than expected or body lines..

Before I gut my donor Midget..I was planning to do a X measurement on the bottom of the tub to make sure the tub is square, if not,I will make it so and then weld support braces to keep it in place.. hopefully..I was also planning to align all the doors, hood, fenders , making sure they all align up, open and close properly with good gap lines and then weld 1x1 square tube across the fender line, door and quarter panel so they stay put when I gut the floor, trans tunnel etc..

Can you give me any suggestions..

Thank you

William

So I've resurfaced yet again for a car progressless update. In September my wife gave birth to our 2nd kiddo. I've nearly slept since then. The garage got delayed by a few weeks due to rain but here are some pics from today.

Not real sure when I will get more work done on the MG. I will have a fair amount of work to do getting the garage ready so it may be a few (like 12-20) months before significant MG progress resumes.
Thanks for hanging in there with me. Someday this car will be finished.

In reply to midgetturbospeedster the issues are I assumed the car was symetrical which (at least on mine) was not true. If starting again from scratch I would leave the floor and weld something across the door openings and basically remove everything but the floor and body. I would leave it in 1 piece though rather than make a bunch of pieces. The hood and fender alignment is just a matter of getting the nose aligned when you mount it to your frame. The doors mount to the body not really the structure so they should be ok.

Good Luck and start a build when you get moving.

That garage is awesome. Any plans for some new tools to fill it?
