Treeve is a Locost enthusiast (or Clubbie, as they call them Down Under) who is waging a campaign against the NSW requirement that homebuilt cars have ABS. You can go to his GoFundMe page for details...

...but in brief, he has to sue the government before he can get a hearing on this. He has a good case, in my opinion, and he'll refund any donations if/when he wins it, but he hasn't the bucks to carry the legal load by himself.

There but for the grace of SEMA go we. Here in the US, car enthusiasts outnumber DOT bureaucrats, but in much of the world the local locosters aren't so lucky.

Thanks Jack, I'm sure that we appreciate the support from overseas just as much as we appreciate the local support.

Ironically, back when OEMs started including ABS in new cars, it was the Australians who found out many of those systems failed rather spectacularly on gravel or dirt roads, of which Australia has many.

Like all Gov. Org. "One size fits all" edicts there will be situations where the edict hurts more than helps.

It is unlikely anyone will ever see the Chrysler air-bag experiments using live piglets as they were gruesome.
Despite which once Gov. Org. mandated airbags for everyone Chrysler ran ads touting them as their wonderful new feature!

Sad to see that AU does no better when it comes to meddling with freedom. :BH:
With their history we might expect better, but apparently the obeisance to the empire and socialism that supplanted it runs deep. :(
