Newbie builder near Mission River's Edge track in B.C. We're finishing our frame (unfinished project from prev owner) and want to know which racing class best suits the car as this may affect roll bar construction, etc. We're using a toyota 4AGE 1600cc drivetrain and I think we can go GT or Sports Racer. Can anyone point me to a site that deals with this? or explain the best route for us?

Hmmm GT in other disciplines usually requires a full body, not sure about SCCA though.

You can run SCCA in their Solo classes but not in any of their road racing classes. Hope you can find some other local clubs that will be more sympathetic.

The licensing body for most motorsport events in BC: http://caccautosport.org/ There you will find more detail on classes, rule requirements and whatnot. Do you want wheel-to-wheel, or Solo I?

There is also a fair bit of Solo II autocross at Pitt Meadows airport. Check out http://www.vcmc.ca (You'd run D/Mod for sure).

I think NASA allows Locosts to race in ST1 or ST2 depending on the engine. Moti had some info in his build log.

Down here in South-East the options are.
SCCA road race catch all classes: SPO or SPU depending on motor size. DMOD or EMOD on autocrosses, watch for weight.
NASA road race ST series, number depends on power to weight ratio. Time Trials TTsomething again power to weight ratio with number of factors. They have Sevens in their rulebooks so it is easy to get the car approved.

A locost or Lotus Seven replica can run in NASA's ST1 or ST2 classes, and even has a couple of specific rules. That said, I think the closest NASA venue(s) would be events run by the northeast US region.

I am looking for other 7 types to run SCCA autocross in DFW (Texas Region). I have a Birkin on streetable tires (200 wear factor). If I could find another car or 2, we could have our own regional class.
