Actually I was just about to post and then I noticed this ..

viewtopic.php?f=38&t=13080

but anyway, continuing;

These are F500 racers, known to some and not to others...

I currently have a proposal in with a company that might see me undertaking a race formula car which would be pretty close to F500 cars with the exception that they would run a modern 600cc single engine with gears (including reverse) worth about 50hp. I think F500 is about a perfect race class but to be honest the sound of them sucks badly, I believe people want to change gears and I reckon 600cc Hyperbike engines are over the top and can be very expensive (relative).

Now unlike the thread above, I have a completely different idea about what low cost racing means and could easily put these on the market between $5 and $6 grand ready to go less tyres and seatbelts.

Is there an interest in such a vehicle and or class?

The F600 or F6 class is a growing class and growing quickly. Have a look at a couple of videos on Youtube. They are quick and sound great with a 12000rpm bike motor screaming along. Good luck with the venture. Do you have a good supply of motors? Oh hang on, a 600 single with reverse :shock: . Haven't heard of that one. Who runs them? I have heard of a lot of the F500 getting swapped over to the 600 4 cylinder bike motors. :cheers:

Thanks for your reply...

Maybe, but I'm talking about a different thing although it could be associated with it, Junior and Senior sort of thing.

Yes I have supply of engines and they have internal reverse (RN12345) ..

While I am somewhat fascinated by affordable racing classes, I personally would rather have a set of rules to build a car to rather than a car that a set of rules are built around.

Most class rules are tailored over the years eventually to arrive at a specific formula, especially so called low cost classes.

Your enthusiasm for the F600 class in the other thread seems at odds with your response here?

Not at all. The F600 proposal is still for a set of rules that anybody can design and build a car of their own interpretation to, rather than a single (spec?) car that it seems rules would later be specifically written around. It's a fine line, but a distinct one to me. If you were primarily developing a set of rules that appealed to me, which your car fell into but was certainly not specific to just your car, I would possibly be interested in learning more.

what about 450 dirt bike engines? would they not be cheaper! if its a spec class it could work ie look at what happend at formula vee you can buy a car for $2k but need a build race engine $7500. if you have a spec engine no mods, spec tires, spec chassis and spec aero it would be cool. a singal seat race car for a little over $5k
