Heya

That's our car, I'm glad you like it.

In case you are interested in some background for our project:

We're a group called Bogeyracing, and we've been involved with vw's/porsche's in club racing for about ten years, and when we looked through our options in the fall 2006 nothing else made a sense than moving to locosts. We also got to ride along in a 4A-GE powered locost, and after the rides my friend got to drive it, so it was all it took to make us build these cars. Mainly three guys built this car. Me, a mechanical engineering student. Mika, who works in marketing and has been building cars as long as I know and who is the second owner for this car. And my dad, who is a electronics engineer helped a lot to build it.

We really haven't had the time to make the car ready, loads of testing would be required to get it working as it should. This was the first car I made a weight transfer worksheet for, and calculated the ride frequencies, so to our surprise the car was very driveable from the beginning. Previously we've just guessed what springs to put into cars.
We have plans to build two more under the next winter, and sort out some of the errors we made with the first one. We're also making a trailer for two cars so we have something to transport the cars with and something to sleep in under race weekends.

Quick specifications:
Yamaha R1 1999, filter, exhaust and rejetted.
Weight: 1100lbs + driver
Book frame, FIA spec roll cage and safety equipment.
Yokohama A048 tires, 205/60 R13 medium compound.
Ford front spindles, Volvo calipers all around.
Lada rear axle, Volvo propshaft

We're racing with the same rules as Norway and Denmark. The frame we are allowed to use is according to Ron Champions book, no extra tubing outside of the cutting list is approved. You have to run the stock front suspension mounting points, and the rear ones can be moved up or down with a weight penalty of +3%. Engines that are approved are under 200hp engines that can be either 4 cylinder car engines, or motorcycle engines. The car engines can be tuned, but the calculated power can't exceed 200hp. The weight of the car is hp x 3 (in kilo's).

A pic from last summer, still with the carbon fenders.

We made one set of carbon fenders for the car and spent time getting them to look really good. Sadly when I got to drive my first race with the car, I broke three of them...

The unveiling of the car was at the American Car Show 2007 in Helsinki. It's the biggest car show in the nordic countries, so it was pretty hectic.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free.

I've recently found your blogsite and it is a great read. You have a very nice car and look like you're having tons of fun with it!.

The wet drive video is awe inspiring. Very good job keeping it off the wall imho.
