What, he has a problem with my life goals?
D**m commie!

I wonder how long before the car hidden in his "Art" becomes valuable enough for his butchery to be removed?

The "Halo". Formula 1's solution to all things intrusive to the open cockpit car. After the 2018 F1 Season is over and the fans and FIA realize they should have never introduced it, there will be a surplus of them on E-Bay.

But seriously, I live in SE Michigan, where we have the honor of the most car/deer collisions in the US. There is no total solution.

No matter the material in the windshield, unless the frame can hold the G-load of instantly accelerating 225lbs of buck flesh, portions of the animal wind up in the passenger compartment. Lexan, as in my Factory 5 is more resistant to penetration than glass, but is again in a weak frame, and not DOT legal on the roads.

Deer whistles and other such stick on deterrents are useless and do not work.

I believe the best option is long range driving lights for night. At least if you are vigilant in looking for glowing yellow eyes on the roadside, long range lights may give you a split more second of reaction time to brake and reduce the impact. Not much you can do when they are moving in the day time.

Don't swerve to avoid. This will absolutely result in a crash even if you are fortunate enough to miss the deer. As mentioned above, the thing may actually leap over a low, little car. Aim at a point and hope they will be gone from that point when you arrive there.

Hunt more, reduce the heard. Since you are on this site...you like cool machines. The Cross Bow is a cool machine. Much like a se7en, it's light, fast, efficient.

Yep. My wife totaled our 2011 Golf just last week hitting a deer on her way to work. A real shame as it doesn't appear to be that much damage but when the car is 7 years old with 160k miles on it, it doesn't take much to "total" it. We're still working it out.

I'm a fanatic about using my high beams in the rural area we live in. Honestly, I think if she had been too, we might not be in this situation.

Side note, from the time she called me until we were finished with the sheriff, et. al. (about 40 minutes) the deer had been swept up by vultures that apparently drive pickup trucks now. There wasn't a trace of it left on the shoulder. (it was all internal injuries and apparently was a big buck)

Looks like you may have a "Midlana" donor car there!

LOL, it's a 2.5l 5 cylinder which has been great. I've had a series of VW & Audi vehicles since about 1980 so I'm aware that of their many, many shortcomings. That said, this has been the best car we've ever owned. Bought new, in 160k miles we've had just one issue...granted it was a major issue. At about 130k, the tranny needed to be replaced. Yeah, that one hurt. But otherwise it has been faultless. It was our first automatic car. If it were a manual tranny, maybe I would keep it as a Midlana donor! Alas, I really don't want to deal with parting it out; I already have a full time job. :D
