No. I thought about that approach but since it is a bare chassis, I decided to clamp a bar to the end and test. Mainly i knew that going through the uprights on this chassis would probably make it worse. We may also repeat the process through the uprights once the chassis is back from powder coat... I would actually prefer to use both methods to better understand how much each is contributing to the flex (suspension mountings vs chassis). If it gets worse we have work to do on the mounts too.

I will probably use the upright config on my chassis though.

Anyone have experience with Ansys or Autodesk simulation and want to figure out why my mesh keeps failing?

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

I think your rigidity is looking pretty good - this isn't the same chassis I analyzed is it? I run AutoCad and I could take a shot at your mesh if you post it. I remember being able to load your chassis files.

No this is a different chassis. How would I post the mesh? I am referring to the mesh that the computer creates to run the fea.

Or do you want me to send you the model and give you the software download?

You are only interested in the stiffness from the chassis mounts of the coilovers inwards when you measure the chassis stiffness. There are real world concerns with flexibility in uprights and wishbones etc. but they are not part of the picture of evaluating chassis stiffness, nor is tire deformation. You would like to be able to tune the car with roll stiffness in springs or roll centers, so how much the tires bulge for example is not a factor.

If you can give me the title of the program, I can contact the company for a trial download. Or sometimes you have to change files into a zip file to submit here.

Spreadsheet suffix's are not allowed on this site. You can, I think, zip it and share that way.
