Checking in here, I started another chassis drawing. In the past months I bought an engine and have it mated up to the Porsche 5-speed in the garage. In the hunt for wheels next. Slowly getting there with the chassis model. Thanks to all here on the forum, Vinny |

Unless it was mentioned before, the 800-lb gorilla in the room is the shell - where's that coming from? I think this should be designed opposite - start with the shell, which dictates wheel base and track, then work your way in, and I mean an actual shell, or a known-accurate CAD model. I feel as things are going, it's going to get 90% done before the shell is put over the chassis, only to find that critical tubes are either in the wrong place or could have been placed just slightly different to be far more useful. Unless there's a plan regarding the shell, I feel a bit like watching someone build a flying saucer, figuring out the framework, seating arrangements, and control accessibility, and when asked, "oh, the anti-gravity unit will be dealt with when the time comes." Okay. I'm very glad that the first thing I did with my mid-engine Mini project was to start with the composite shell on the floor and design inward. It fit the finished chassis perfectly, but of course it would. |

Been working on the rear suspension and trying on a set of Corvette Z06 wheels and tires I recently picked up. The rears are massive at 295/35r18. |

The temps here have gone up to the high 40's, back in the garage making some progress. The engine and transmission mounts (rubber) arrived so I'll be mocking up the brackets this weekend. I re-did the upper rear x-member for clearance at the trans tail housing. |

The engine is a 2.7 liter V6 Twin Turbo from a 2001 Audi A6. |

All stock components of the correct year as the engine, Audi ECU, engine harness & instrument cluster. The Audi/ VW ecu's can be re-flashed to eliminate non essential functions like abs, airbag, auto trans etc. The younger generation of import tuners have done the heavy lifting on this topic. I didn't want to run a stand alone on this project. The requirement was that I can work on it and repair it myself . Thanks for your interest in my car, Vinny |

I'd attempt to make the upper rear x-member a bolt-in piece, it will save a ton of effort if you ever have to pull either the gearbox or the motor & gearbox combined. I did something similar on my Europa build and found out the hard way that you couldn't pull either without it being removable. |
