HI.

Been thinking about my old chassis and I am looking at it from new eyes.
Its a 908-3 want-to-be. Thinking of using my MT5 and a Subaru EZ30. Mid engine.
Some of the front end is from the old car.(not the Lotus11/15 still working on that)
Would stay with the 90" wheel base. Wheels would be 12x15 rear and 8x15 front.
Rear track = 60" and the front 61 1/2".Steel frame with Glass body.(wish I didn't need to build a mold)
Rear tires 295/50r15 and the front 225/45r15. 10" rear rim's and 8" front.

Something like this ?

[imgImage][/img] Basse on this.

Image

Maybe a track car (??) but I will try to trick the state into giving me a plate ?+- . LOL
Would be a great car for "cars and coffee" ?
Mostly old school but will use MS for the motor.

Getting older now but can't stop thinking about this car. Don't have 3000k to get a real one but think I have one more car left in me .

Yo-- With the flat surfaces and square corners in the rear 2/3 of the body, that would be easy to do as "moldless composite" fiberglass. The front end is rather curvaceous (I mean that in a good way...) and would take some artistry to sculpt, but you'd have to sculpt a mold anyway, wouldn't you?

Check out the "tutorial" in here on moldless composite building- http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8113

Good luck with it either way, moldy or moldless!

Put the motor and trans in. Red box in front is a 20 gal. tank ? Rims are also shown now with offsets.

May go wishbone lower with long tie rods forward and signal top rod ?

Also can the brake rotor be too big ? Thinking going small vented rear and big vented front ?

Think I will build this one in module. Motor bay and rear suspension . Front suspension and then fill in the rest. Never tried this way ?

Brake rotor size depends upon usage, hp, expected top speed, and something no one considers, center of gravity.

I'd consider an awd subie donors rear disc hubs to use, with the front disc hubs used on the front with no axles, just the stub holding the bearing together.

Rotor size and type is a compromise with many factors to weigh in, but small vented rear can work.

This is an awesome idea. I would look into the factory five forums. They have the 818 which is designed around the wrx engine but a few guys went ahead and installed the flat 6 motors. There are a few differences I believe year to year, things like exhaust ports, etc. They also have a 3.6 liter with an interesting offset rod setup. The motors can sound really nice. Upping the power can be tough NA but if you are happy with the stock power output it should be a great engine. Subaru motors have some issues with oiling with sticky tires, but Killer B has some pan/pickup options that can help. They also have some dimensions on those forums as well I believe. I would bet if you could fab up a somewhat inexpensive setup with individual throttle bodies combined with a lightly resonated exhaust, this thing would sound amazing.

This is one of my favorite youtube exhaust clips (of an ez30r): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdhSlF5oK94

Interested to see how this turns out. Best of luck.

Thanks.

Been thinking about the motors. Go with a EZ30D (220hp alum intake),EZ30D(02-07 245hp plastic intake),EG33 (230hp),EZ36D (260hp fly-by-wire)????
My thinking is a 02-07 EZ30D with ITB's. Think that would look and sound great.

Have not looked yet but can the MS system control the can's ?

Sounds good. I believe that second gen ez30d is also referred to as an ez30r by some. I'm not sure on the MS capabilities, but an aftermarket ecu may be required since most of these engines came mated to a slushbox (assuming you will use a manual) and the ecu probably isn't happy without the transmission.

Can anyone think of a way to make a Mustang II spindle into a top steer ?
I see one brake hanger hole(may not be ?) that could be used but will need more ?
