Options are always good, similar in concept to the Honda K series swap I did

The Ecotec, as I look at it, uses the Aisin transmission, so Solstice/Sky/Canyon/Colorado, recent Camaro, older Toyotas (to name a few?) should bolt up? Or so I'm thinking -- you never know until you go to bolt it up....

So $600 for the adapter plate, when you can buy the Solstice trans used for about the same price, seems a bit high unless you really NEED to use the Miata trans? Maybe if you have a Miata trans already and don't wanna have to replace the trans AND (I assume) drive shaft?

We are living in the glory days of horsepower....

Tim, I agree. That was my situation I had a Miata engine and trans and wanted more power. Plus for the K Series Honda there is no RWD trans available and I already has the Miata trans in the car. The K series is only used in FWD applications.

The Miata has that torque tube that means you're gonna want to stick w/ the OEM transmission I assume?

I am not using the torque tube (or PPF in Miata speak) as I have a solid rear axle. But the trans tunnel is very tightly built around the Miata trans.

The Miata has better ratios for a sports car. Plus like others have said, if you are putting the engine in a Miata it really simplifies things.

Yup, posting mostly for those starting with a Miata based build, then wanting something with a bit more oomph than the stock 1.6 can provide cheaply. You can buy a whole car with the GM 2.2 and wiring harness for a few hundred dollars, strip what you need, sell what you can, then sell it to the scrapyard for the last few hundred bucks needed for the swap or power mods... The 2.2 loves boost...
