JULIAN DZ last visited this site 7 years ago. But if you know how to contact him I'd like to hear his story.

If you are dead set on this and don't have an engine, I have an engine, trans, & diff from a 77 280Z.

Hello Locost friends,

For my second build I am contemplating an inline six of the 1970-1975 era. That is with carbs and no computers. I am thinking of rebuilding a Datsun 280Z engine (with a 5 sp tranny). Any other suggestions?

I guess I should wrap up this thead.
I have now decided that my second build will run a flat six Corvair engine. I bought the animal and on the other thread I have been given tons of valuable advice on how to go about it. For the record my first build was launched in 2009 and in the 4 preceding years this group has been a tremendous help and motivation.

And here I was, all inspired to look around for a Pontiac Sprint OHC six.
Depending on some financial results I have this old CMC Bugatti kit originally intended for a VW but it has a very long bonnet and front radiator opening. :chev:

Man! One of those Pontiac motors would be totally AWESOME in that little Bugatti! And you're right, there should be more than enough room!

And it's already leaned over to give you just the perfect weight distribution.

If I were doing a Bugatti I would indeed look for the in-line engine types. It would look great and it would be more realistic than anything else, considering (correct me if I am wrong) the Frenchman Bugatti
built this car with an eight cyl inline.
:)

Fours and eights.

Jag AJ6 would be good too, need to compare weight since the kit is not selling.

If I were you... I would use a Volvo T5.. looks like a 6, much lighter, decent aftermarket and the noises that it makes are marvelous. a complete longblock is in the 330lb range.
