Hi Felipe. Most donor engines won't fit a "book" Locost. You have to decide if you want less oil pan clearance, or a bump in the bonnet. When it's close, like with a Miata engine, most people take their chances with less oil pan clearance.

Although most Locosts don't have the engine sticking up through the bonnet, around three-quarters have at least have a hole in the bonnet for the intake. It's a tight fit no matter what engine you use. If you are familiar with the Nissan engine, or it's available to you cheap, I would say use it.

Felipe, one quick trick you can do is put an extra rail on top of the upper frame rail, raising the nose, hood and scuttle up. Mine is just aver an inch square tube.
