Forgive me for not doing an exhaustive search, but my first couple of attempts didn't get me anywhere.

Simple question, are there other motors that bolt to or easily adapt to the VW Passat transaxle? There's a nice 5 speed transaxle for sale here locally, but I was thinking either Miata 1.8 or Ford Zetec powerplant in place of a VW / Audi.

Help me out guys, what are my options?

Take a look at this place. They list 3 different Audi transaxles for one side plus it seems all the VW/Porche units and on the other side the list is pretty endless and includes lots of Ford and other engines. The Zetec weighs about 50 lbs. more than the Mazda and Duratec engines, but has some advantages I think. Duratec would seem newer and comes in a variety of versions...

Thanks Marcus. Looks like Kennedy has done all the work for what I'd like to do. Everything from the Dodge 2.0 to the Miata, Duratec or Zetec.

Kennedy has been in business for a long time, and has a rep for putting out good stuff. They are loosely associated with Advanced Clutch Technologies.
