Let's say, hypothetically of course. A rag got sucked into an intake port of the head. And pieces were more or less stuck in the valves (DOHC 4 Valve). Or enough of it is stuck and all the big pieces are pulled out.

Maybe some, a little bit, got past the intake valves and are sitting into the combustion chamber. Or even now hanging on the exhaust port being too big too pass through. But your not sure bacause you can only see the 2 intake valves. Nothing else.

What are the chances, that the small remaining pieces will just burn off? Or maybe could be burnt off manually using a little bit of homemade fire in that cylinder/port?

Ps... pulling the head is not an option currently.

Tell them to remove the spark plug and put a bore scope in and look around? If the engine was running I can't imagine there is anything left in there.

On the cheap and willing to sacrifice the engine? ( not sure if something is wrong how this could hurt it more) If you are unwilling to R&R the head and NEED the engine to run NOW.

I'd remove the intake and exhaust manifolds and all spark plugs. Then fit an air compressor to one of the spark plug holes (screw-in fitting) and hand cycle the engine thru several rotations. That might blow out any remaining pieces from the chamber and any left on the valve surfaces.

Repeat for each cylinder.

What's the worse that can happen?

P.S. I've got nothing personally to lose....... Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya?

Sounds like it needs to spend some time at WOT near redline.

Depends on how big of pieces you think are in there. The risk is bending valves as they are the weak link. I suppose if it was large enough, you could bend a rod but not likely at low rpm.

Pull the plugs, and have a look with the cylinder at BDC. Can use a pick-up tool, or some air, or tape on a screwdriver to get the bigger pieces. If small enough, yes they will burn off or be ejected.
