While looking through the parts that came with my Pinto (it is a 71-74) I found a Crane cam grind # P-284-B, I have looked on the cam website but they dont show the specs for that cam, does anyone know what the spec is for this cam?

I tried my hand, but found nothing even in the Crane Master Catalog. It's probably an obsolete grind from years back. How about calling Crane tech support?

Yeah, same here... I used my Google-Ninja skills and got nuthin'...

Lonnie may have the right idea, call Crane and see if they can look thru the archives.
(When "Customer Service" answers, tell 'em you want to talk to "the Old Guy"!)

Yep, not everything is online.

284 is likely the duration at .050" lift with the oem follower.
If Crane made cams for FMS so it is likely they made them for Esslinger.
I have an old Esslinger catalog that lists a 284 dur@050 cast follower (non-roller cam) for the 2.0L.
Esslinger PN 1216, int/exh 560"/560", advertised duration 320, lobe sep 110.
Power range 6000-8500, "HI RPM CIRCLE TRACK W/STROKER or DRAG RACING"
This is the most radical cast follower cam they sold and may be why it was never installed.

Specs they show for a good stock head, cast follower cam they describe as "LOW RPM CIRCLE TRACK, TURBOCHARGED ENGINES"
are 236/246@050, 437/463", 272/282 adv dur, 110 cl, 2200-6500 range.

I'd check valve to piston clearance with that one but there is a slightly less aggressive cam shown for up to 5500 rpm that would probably be the best all around cam.

You can probably have the 284 reground to something streetable for a lot less than buying new plus you pick the specs.
