I am reassembling a Locost that someone else took apart down to the bare frame. Where are you all putting the battery in your Locosts?

Thanks.

In the right (passenger) rear boot. At least, I think so. I have the setup for it. As with all Locosts, "It ain't over until it's over."

Mostly it was to provide space in the engine compartment. Most builders put the battery there.

Cheers,

If there's space, another possible location is the passenger-side foot well. With it at the rear, it'll "probably" be fine there but does cause me some concern. In a rear-end accident, both the fuel tank and battery could get damaged, with one supplying fuel, and the other supplying the spark.

There also placed on the engine bay shelf above the passenger footwell forward of the firewall.

This is where I put mine.

This is where I should have put mine.

The footwell makes sense from an available space point of view - it more or less takes up the space the pedals do on the driver side so there's plenty of room. It also makes for short cables and keeps the weight low. However, it's a pain to get to if ever I should need to replace it. Above the footwell is a great place in terms of accessibility and it doesn't require any sort of bulkhead connectors or grommets for the cable passthrough.

I started with mine on the shelf over the pass foot well and moved it to in front of the pass foot well. very short run to the starter and of my electrics. it can be difficult to get to but how often do you pull the baytery?

That's where I put mine, but centered left to right.
